From the stone wheel to the internet, technology has always played an important and pivotal role in human evolution. We created these technologies to make jobs easier, speed up processes, etc. Some aspects of human technology have greatly benefited humanity such as medical technology where we have learned to expand the human lifespan or even save a life. Revolutionizing the communication industry has completely changed the way that humans across the world interact with each other. We have developed from the point where paper messages would have to be carried, sometimes taking weeks to reach the recipient, to being able to communicate halfway across the world instantly. This has given humanity a huge advantage.

It allows for globalization of the economy, collaboration for scientific and other research as well as strategic movements of large military forces or just the simple hello to a relative that lives far away (Parker, 2005). The implementation of technology has had a great impact on society as a whole. Human behavior has been influenced by communications technology. Society has developed based on efficiency and a fast-paced environment because the information is now readily available via networks, the internet, etc.

As a result, our generation lives in one where everything is expected quickly. Compared to about thirty years ago, the efficiency of industry and business has increased as well as learning in institutions due to the implementation of better and faster computers and the internet (FitzGerald, & Dennis, 2009). With all the benefits of technology, it has also setback humans in a way. We are losing how we communicate with each other. Letter writing has become a lost art. With the advent of text messaging, Facebook, etc.

, there has been a decrease in face-to-face communication due to the convenience of messaging systems. Technology has also desensitized the way we view the world. We can view tragedies such as war and famine directly on our television (Hongladarom, & Ess, 2007). Video games have become more violent and it has impacted human behavior. The question becomes when does technology begin to override our humanity and when is that human spirit lost to the crutch of technology? It is inevitable that despite whatever consequences result from it, humans will continue to work on and develop new methods and kinds of technology.

In some aspects, this will produce very positive outcomes as far as increasing efficiency and making things easier. There will be some negatives to this technology development as some people will develop technology for their gains which could have a destructive end.
