"Personal Leadership in Nursing" is an exceptional example of a paper on care.
While physicians are to make diagnoses and to define a course of treatment, there are nurses who interact with patients regularly, help them restore forces by means of personal assistance. As nurses do so much for patients, they are to have special skills. Working as a nurse and after the lectures, I listened to in this module, I understood that now nurses have to acquire new approaches to their profession and a new understanding of their mission.  In the modern world, technology provides the opportunity for horizontal growth of knowledge. Now nurses are working on the front lines, thus their task is very important and they directly influence the outcome. Thus, nurses are taking an active part in the decision-making process, new responsibility makes them independent in decision making. And it is well-known that independence of decision-making is the basis of leadership. Now nurses are able to select the plan of care and to apply interventions. Self-direction is very important for the work of a nurse today (Hagler, 2015).

The role of nurses was underestimated for far too long. The low prestige of a profession of a nurse in modern society, the impossibility of professional growth, lack of conditions for conducting scientific researches induced a certain part of the skilled and qualified nursing staff to receive a profession of a doctor. This led to the lack of people of such a profession. However, this shortage should be filled up. The attitude to nursing and the staff should be changed. At the beginning of the module, I thought that nurse is more a subordinate person, whose task is not to make decisions but to implement the decisions of others. However, now I changed my mind because I see that the role of a nurse is crucial for medicine, thus, nurses should be able to make independent decisions. I will do my best to develop leadership and decision-making skills as I see my future profession connected with leadership roles. First of all, it is developing thinking and mind processes to be able to make the decisions quickly and correctly, because somebody’s life can depend on it. In the field of nursing, it is very difficult to make your own decisions, thus mind processes should be highly developed.

Demand for nursing staff is growing in many countries in the world as their practice flexibly reacts to demographic, economic, and social changes. As a result, nursing activity turned into a key component of medical care in any condition (Horton-Deutsch & Mohr, 2001).). The field of activity of nurses includes rendering a full range of services within primary medical and sanitary help and even participation in carrying out hi-tech scientific researches. Thus, now I see that my task as a nurse is a very broad-range, thus new skills are needed to be developed to have success in the field and be able to help people as much as it is possible.
