"Advanced Nursing Course for Middle Adults" is an engrossing example of a paper on care.
Taking the advanced nursing course for middle adults helped me amass immense knowledge from the medical world. Two-course objectives included (1). Demonstrate suitable and effective oral and written communication with adults ages 18-60, their families, and other health care professionals; (2). Interpret the effectiveness of interventions and care management strategies in improving the health status of individuals.

I have put my classroom experiences in a real-life setting by applying the relevant care management theories in my role as a primary care medical practitioner. For instance, I have been able to apply Watson's Theory of Caring for chronically ill patients. As written by Caruso, Cisar, & Pipe (2008) Watson's Theory focuses on a healing environment. This implies that a nurse ought to offer a conducive milieu for the patient. Thus, a nurse-patient relationship is vital in this case; as better communication and understanding of the patient’s needs will be met. Using this theory, I was able to come up with effective care plans for my patients during my clinical.

With the knowledge of care management strategies, I have been able to improve the health status of my patients. This is by knowing the pathophysiology and epidemiology of learned medical conditions including diabetes, asthma, HTN, flu, and arthritis. By reading, doing assignments and practising on a patient, I have been able to understand the human anatomy. This has enabled my brilliant prowess in physical assessments. Moreover, I have gained knowledge on how to manage such conditions with pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions, both appreciating their mechanism of actions.  Thus, I have been able to care for my patients very well. Both the practical and theoretical areas of this course have helped me gain the required knowledge in offering health promotion services, assessment and diagnosis, and disease management for patients in need of medical attention.

My clinics have enabled me to understand the essence of working with other medical practitioners as a team. As per the course assignments, the topic of nursing ethics was triggered in such a situation. From my course assignments, I was able to base Watson's Theory of Caring as my clinical guide (Alligood, 2014). I was responsible for making observations on how to develop protocols and plans in regard to the medical techniques. Furthermore, I learned how to write reports which the medical staff needed. I was able to appreciate effective physician-physician interaction in a medical setting.

This course gave me the privilege to comprehend the needs of patients, as well as their families. I have been able to effectively interact with the patients and their families. This communication has proved to be vital exhibiting a positive outcome (Pinto et al., 2012). The objective of patient-physician communication was met during my clinic when I engaged the patients and their families in meaningful talks concerning the health situation and plans to improve the medical situation. I considered this part of effective patient education; as I listened to the patients as well. I made sure it was not a one-sided conversation. Better clinical outcomes have been proven when there is shared decision making between a patient and medical practitioner (Hunink et al., 2014).

All in all, this course has advanced my knowledge in regard to theory, research and community health. I have been able to meet the course objectives fully, with the backbone being the theoretical knowledge from the classroom. I have been in a position to put the skills into practice partly from classwork and assignments and largely from the clinic.
