"Impact of Professional Practice Models and Magnetic Recognition on Professional Nursing Practice" is an outstanding example of a paper on care.
Professional Practice Models (PPMs) carry significant influence within the Nursing practice. This model makes use of graphic illustrations to outline a health care organization’s approach to nursing. Often this schematic model centres on patient care. This kind of approach enables nurses and healthcare organizations to provide high-quality health care.

PPMs emphasize on professionalism. By providing a guided strategy towards handling of the nursing role, PPMs enhance how nurses collaborate with each other. They also improve communication between nurses and their patients or each other. This depicted professionalism further serves to inspire and motivate nurses in regards to their practice. In turn, this helps to strengthen competency, which leads to better health care.

A perhaps surprising impact of Professional Practice Models is concerning job satisfaction. In a study to determine how these models influence job satisfaction among nurses, McGlynn et al. (2012) found a negative correlation between the practice models and level of job satisfaction among nurses. The study concludes that job satisfaction is lower where a Professional Practice Model execution occurs. The researchers suggest that more attention should be directed towards improving the working environment to make it more desirable for practising nurses. The study asserts that more research is required to provide a better understanding of other factors that might influence job satisfaction. This information will provide insight into what measures healthcare organizations need to take in order to attract and retain nurses. This is further complicated by the rising demand for nurses, which Zimmerman (2014) is keen to point out.

One a definite way to improve job satisfaction is to use Magnet Designation. This is a program established by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to recognize organizations for excellent health care. Within the nursing practice, Magnet Recognition is considered the most distinguishable award from the ANCC. Because of this, healthcare facilities and organizations strive to meet the Magnet level, which is considered the standard model of professional healthcare. Tinkham (2013) asserts that the pursuit of the Magnet status encourages the participation of nurses in different functions of a facility including policies and decision-making. This serves to make nurses feel recognized and consequently results in increased job satisfaction while also maintaining the high standards of health care. On their part, ANCC continues to laud the Magnet Recognition program as a success (2014).

Another good example of a successful practice program is the Transforming Care at the Bedside (TCAB) developed in 2003 by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement. According to the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (n.d), this program takes a new approach towards health care; that of direct patient care. The program received a positive response from the nurses. The study indicated increasing levels of participation and teamwork.

Owing to the rising demand for practising nurses, it is critical for health care institutions to be able to attract and retain nurses. This is achievable through improving the work environment. In addition, very important is developing work strategies that guarantee job satisfaction. When nurses feel valued and recognized, the turnover rates within the practice will significantly fall. While the Magnet method is one of the ways to improve this situation, more effective strategies, which include the TCAB need to be invented in order to uphold the professionalism of the nursing practice and to improve health care as a whole.
