The purpose of providing improved education is to support critical clinical decisions by considering health and safety concern of patients and providing them with effective care in a quite profitable manner by developing varied self-precautionary measures (Bendomir & Morrison, 2005). Moreover, sexual health clinics provide wider ranges of services including testing and treating the sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and providing the emergency contraception regarding the various precautionary measures. In the context of UK nursing practice, is continuously monitored and regulated by Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC 2008). The NMC helps to provide and ensure that nurses and midwives are capable of providing superior as well as standard of care to the patients. The regulatory body sets various guideline and standards for education, practice and provides appropriate advices to the nurses and midwives (Nursing and Midwifery Council, 2008). Correspondingly, the study intends to address the particular aspect or issue that arises while incorporating patient’s perception based on the ‘15 steps challenges’ observation. Furthermore, the study emphasis towards the strategies or action plan that needs to be developed in eradicating the issue while following ‘15 steps challenges’. Congruently, paper will also present a brief reflection of ‘15 steps challenges’ observation that has been conducted for the specific topic. Action Plan ‘The 15 Steps Challenge’ is an approach of healthcare, which is a series of toolkit that assists healthcare executive to provide effective care to the patients through making available all necessary resources. It works accordingly with patients, carers, service users, volunteers, clinical staff and governors to have the look over the variety of settings. ‘The 15 Steps Challenge’ comprises five different toolkits in which each toolkit having the sequence of questions that promotes the patients and clinician to work with mutual understanding and promote care (Lewis, 2014). Correspondingly, in the health clinical practice, leadership plays an integral role for quality decision making and is one of the most fundamental component to provide acute care to the patients. Leadership approaches in the healthcare will significantly assist and guide the behaviour of patient as well as the healthcare staffs to work towards a shared goal. Furthermore, the major aspect of the leadership will significantly help to influence the group activities. Additionally, to practice ‘The 15 Steps Challenge’ approach of leadership is likely to play an integral role for understanding and developing suitable clinical decision-making. This will assist the clinicians to make accurate decisions by considering the various contextual factors before enduring any key decision (Al-Sawai, 2013; Browning & et. al., 2011). In relation to the adaptation of ‘The 15 Steps Challenges’ collaboration of leadership style ascertain as the key approach to have assertive as well as cooperative process. This approach of leadership will be beneficial to work in a collaborative manner in order to enhance organizational symbiosis. Moreover, the collaborative leadership is form of leadership, which will enable the physician to communicate the information among the co-workers, associated with healthcare organizations, as well as with the patient to comply with norms of informed decisions (NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement, 2011). Thus, the collaborative leadership approach will be effective means of approach to promote clinical decision-making and acute care provided in a clinical practice (Hartley & Benington, 2010). Accordingly, the decision making in the practice of ‘The 15 Steps Challenges’ is highly regarded as a complex and complex and multidimensional approach that requires in-depth understanding of the patients and their problems. This even helps in avoiding situations of miscommunication among the parties involved within the system that will significantly hamper the patient’s healthcare. Moreover, the practice that are followed in healthcare requires multi-dimensional knowledge, personal frameworks, conceptual framework of the acute care physiotherapy practitioner, high level of belief and values to facilitate in effective decisions and care to enhance the process of care giving. Likewise, in order to provide effective care to the patient various psychological capabilities that includes awareness of emotions, abilities of clinicians, motivation towards learning, identifying and dealing with patients and effective relationship in the workplace needs to be developed . Moreover, the strategies that a physician needs to ensure effective delivery of nursing care also includes having reflective as well as social capabilities that broadly describes the ability of the individual to interact with patients (Croskerry, 2006). Apparently, by building the approach of collaborative leadership within the practice of ‘The 15 Steps Challenges’, will enhance the level of effective assistance in providing superior degree of care to the patients. Through effective management, collaborative approach of leadership could be encouraged among the multiple stakeholders. This would further reduce complexities by nurturing environment of sharing knowledge as well as expertise of different stakeholders. Moreover, in the context of health clinic individuals are having different levels of responsibilities that they effectively need to be engaged in the leadership process to communicate verbally as well as non-verbally with the different stakeholder to identify and make necessary changes in the practice to meet the change in process of care. Nevertheless, the collaborative form of leadership will significantly assist in building the effective environment for practicing the same (West, & et. al., 2014). Moreover, by forming the environment of verbal and nonverbal communication with the patient the challenge toolkits approach of care will be highly benefited to acquire high level of understanding regarding how patients perceive about health care environment and suggest some measure to improve care. Likewise, by having higher level of understanding from the patients, healthcare clinics is much likely to identify various key components that will assist them to improve the patient care through building appropriate care setting (VanVactor, 2012). Similarly, the main issue that arises in the way to provide effective care includes improper knowledge regarding the perception of patients, communication gap between patients and clinician, improper support and laciness of resources. In this regard, effective ‘The 15 Steps Challenge’ practice will enable staff, patients and service users to communicate and develop the challenging area that needs enhancement and positive improvements in the quality of care (Penrhyn-Jones, 2014). Personal Reflection ‘The 15 Steps Challenges’ is an important concept in healthcare management. It is regarded as the guided tool that significantly assist the staff, patients and others authorities to work in a coordinative manner in order to identify and improve mechanism that will help in enhance the patients’ care. Additionally, it is also referred as ward walk around and reflecting the scenario of health clinic on the perception of patients. Patient, staff member along with the board member are the key members of ‘The 15 Steps Challenge’ team that is continuously engaged in the ward to collect first impressions of the patient regarding the healthcare issues. Moreover, the Challenge toolkit guideline is mentioned under the ‘Care Quality Commission’s’ standards. The Challenge is repeated in continuous basis through covering all the ward areas of health clinic in order to ensure that there is a progress in the level of improvement among patients (Williams, 2013; Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, 2013). Based on my analysis of the observation as recorded under ‘The 15 Steps Challenge’ practice, to the reflection on my learning on ‘The 15 Steps Challenge’ and its importance are mentioned hereunder. I found out that ‘The 15 Steps Challenge’ is very important concept in the context of health clinic, which will assist the healthcare executive to take effective healthcare decisions. Besides, the key challenges that arises when implementing the tool in the health clinic was lack of approach amid the staff regarding communication and working atmosphere in a cooperative manner to enhance the quality of healthcare services. Moreover, based on the observation, I found that with the assistance of this guideline, teams are able to provide immediate feedback to different ward staff in the form of written summary, show casing the manner in which superior care can be delivered to the patients. Additionally, through the analysis of the tool’s working mechanism, I could also comprehend that another key challenge which the staff member will face is the difficulty in approaching different patients and when doing so, remaining calm, poised, patient and unbiased concerning their personal beliefs and preferences (South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust, 2013). Notably, as per my observation, in most of their interaction, positivity while interacting with the visitors is absent. This eventually became the major reason of failing service quality. Thus, in this regard, collaborative leadership approach will be important to create an effective environment in which, the visitor will efficiently reflect their key issues in obtaining acute care for the team members. Moreover, in this context, it can be evidently ascertained that a collaborative leadership approach will significantly assist the workforce of the health clinic to motivate them towards obtaining greater understanding of their role in delivering care to the patients and incorporate the same in their real practices (Royal College of Physicians, 2012). Besides, the approach of collaborative leadership will significantly allow the workforce of the health clinic towards common strategic goals through influencing the members to be engaged in the collaborative effort for the overall succession and sustainability. Additionally, based on the above experiences I understood that implementation of the same on real environment of interaction will require profound degree of intellectual capabilities of the team members and enhance their abilities to approach to the visitors in an effective manner. Moreover, building an effective leadership approach will allow the group to become honest and form open feedback through which, members can summarize their experiences to the ward staff successfully. Thus, it is important that they are able to motivate the visitors by clarifying the importance of the same in the domain of real practice (Dewing & et. al., 2014; Homa, 2013; NHS, 2012). Correspondingly, in the current scenario the environment of health clinic is becoming highly complex; wherein, the approach of collaborative will allow achieving better outcome by integrating the skill, knowledge and other resources of the different members to provide acute care to the patients. Additionally, by developing collaborative leadership, the healthcare sector will bring together the different knowledge bases, attitudes and assumptions in appropriately safeguarding the requirements of delivering efficient care to patients. Furthermore, this will also allow forming synergetic working environment in which, different stakeholders of the healthcare sector are working together for enhancing the quality of healthcare management and process (Borkowski & Deppman, 2012; Gardner, 2005). Moreover, through the review of the discussion, I learned that the health clinic, in order to provide effective care to their patient, clinicians needs to undergo high level of interact with patients and their family members in order to foster the approach of learning by ensuring availability of shared information. Thus, in this regard, through building the approach of collaborative leadership in ‘The 15 Steps Challenges’ the workforce gets significant assistance in boosting formal groups and networks and provided the opportunities to meet the requirement of exchanging the information’s. Likewise, the guideline assists to integrate evidences into practice. This approach helps in characterizing the various problems that patients face and provide for a platform to bridge the gap to improve care as well as helps in providing effective treatment for the patients (Vincent, 2011). Thus, as per my understanding data gathering for clients or patient is the main approach of ‘The 15 Steps Challenges’. The healthcare practices through which clinicians will have access of wider ranges of data that includes symptoms, feeling, perceptions, preferences, belief, values and necessary personal information (May & et. al., 2009). Also, ‘Clinicians while implementing the approach of ‘The 15 Steps Challenges’ in the health care environment face various challenges during the time of collecting information, as the data does not flow in a standardized and cohesive manner (Kathleen & Sharon, 2011). In this context, the approach of collaborative leadership will allow effective sharing of interpersonal and organizational skills and knowledge to provide appropriate care to the patients as well as their family. “15 Steps Challenge Action Plan” Leadership Preparation Actions Required Strategic Link In the context of health clinical practice, leadership qualities plays significant role in order to take effective decision and promote effective and acute care to the patients. Moreover, in order to practice effectively ‘The 15 Steps Challenge’ approach enhancing the leadership qualities plays a key role in understanding and developing suitable clinical decision-making. In this regard, in order to become effective leader in the healthcare practice, key actions that leaders needs to incorporate are stated below: High commitment over the team members Determine their inner competences Develop uniform goal and vision Building strong communication among the group members Demonstrate leadership traits Eradicating the barriers within healthcare practices Correspondingly, in order to develop leadership practice within the healthcare some key strategies that the leaders need to develop, which includes: Improving communication skills through nurturing high communicative environment Encourage the interest as well as the sense of belonging among the employees of the healthcare Encourage others to work towards the shared goal and objectives Developing the approach of problem solving mechanism in a step by step manner Increase their dedication towards higher level of learning environment (Speculand, 2009) Safe and Cared Actions Required Strategic Link Safety and proper care are one of the key aspects of health clinical practice. Moreover, it plays significant role to promote acute care to the patients. In this regard, in order to provide proper safety and care key actions that leaders needs to develop are stated in below: Measure and understand the key safety and care culture at the backdrop of different clinical units Determine safety and cultural environment prevalent in the clinic Develop uniform safety and care in healthcare Building strong communication among the group members Identify key opportunity to improve as well as provide proper healthcare facilities In order to develop the proper safety and care practice within healthcare some key strategies that the leaders need to develop are as follows: Encourage the clinical staffs to practice proper care and safety regimes Encourage all the workers to work towards the shared goal and objectives Detail out the plans of care and safety to the workforce (Leonard & Frankel, 2012) Involving Actions Required Strategic Link Involvement of workforce is quite important in order to avoid situations of miscommunication among the parties involved within the system that will significantly hamper the patient’s health. Thus, the involvement of people is correlated to promote acute care that is being offered to the patients. Moreover, involvement can be enhance by incorporating the following qualities: Provide effective training and development Identify the problems and issues of the workforce Develop the environment of two way communication within the workplace Enables the employees to identify the key opportunity and better career prospects Involving employees is regarded as the process for empowering them to take part in managerial decision-making and in other key activities to establish appropriate care for the patients. In this regard, some key strategies that the leaders need to develop includes: Building an environment of feedback among the workers Develop the feeling among the workers that they are responsible and encourage authorities to participate in decision making Develop and provide appropriate resources, training as well as the authorities to eradicate the problems and develop the work processes (Apostolou, 2000) Communicating Actions Required Strategic Link Action that needs to develop the verbal communication skill are: Avoiding harsh tones while communicating with workforce Develop a confidence level in communication process Being concise and clear while communicating Develop inner skills Practice relaxed body language Action that needs to develop the non-verbal communication skill are: Use of specific signals to make effective communication Be highly aware that the signals used while conducting non verbal communication are not being misread Form proper eye contact with the communicator In this regard in order to incorporate effective verbal and non verbal communication among the employees of the organisation leaders needs to incorporate some key strategies which includes: Development of effective communicative environment within the physical workplace Incorporate communication training centre, which is equipped with all the effective health communicational tools and professionals with good communication skill Enrich and provide uninterrupted learning Motivate the workforce by eradicating their problems and issues (Van-Servellen, 1997) Leadership Actions Required Strategic Link In order to become effective leaders and guide the employees to follow the path in appropriate manner, leader needs to incorporate appropriate action which includes: Development of skills and practice to remove the discomfort area Learn new things that helps to develop the workplace practice Building and enhancing the interpersonal relationship Enhance the strengths and minimize the weakness Work towards excellence Capitalize the opportunities Be highly optimistic Develop high level of intelligence In order to incorporate the mentioned action leaders needs to undertake the key strategies that includes: Develop effective communication environment Ability to motivate the workforce in an effective manner Values the needs of different stakeholder of the organisation Explore their knowledge base gained from experience in the working environment Anticipate the future state of action that are required Align the overall objective and goal in an effective manner Learn from mistakes Building higher level of co-operation through appropriate strategic planning (Speculand, 2009) Conclusion From the previously mentioned discussion, it can be comprehended that ‘The 15 Steps Challenge’ is a series of toolkit that significantly assists physician to provide effective care to the patients through assessing the needs of the patients and their family. Improper knowledge towards the perception of patient, communication gap, improper support and laciness of resources are the key problems in the approach of ‘The 15 Steps Challenge’. Furthermore, it can be asserted that collaborative leadership, building higher level of communication and enhancing the healthcare organisation’s infrastructure are among the effective measure to minimize the consequences of developing any issues in implementation of ‘The 15 Steps Challenges’. Hence, in this regard through having the in-depth observation it is suggestible that along with aforesaid measures, regular evaluation of to monitor effectiveness of the same will also needs to considered. This will further enhance the ability of the health clinic to develop their level of competencies to meet with the need of patients having sexual problems.
