"Key Role of Nurses Regarding Ageing Population" is a great example of a paper on care. Like doctors, nurses also play a critical role in the medical care field (Nelima, 1999). For a patient to experience world-class medical care, nurses make tremendous contributions to the endeavor. Nurses take care of people whether ailing or aging. The aging population of catered for by nurses under the AARP – American Association for Retired Persons. They make a patient undergo whatever difficulties he/she is facing in a serene environment and the most relaxing way possible.

This paper will craft an editorial note to the AARP on the key roles nurses offer to the aging population. One of the key roles that nurses offer to seniors in primary health care. Primary health care nurses offer firsthand medical attention (AACN, 2007). They assist the seniors to uphold human standards of living, as well as being healthy. The care enables the seniors to avoid minor accidents such as head concussions and straining their bodies (McCarthy, 2004). In primary care, the patients are fed with essentially healthy meals and foster high standards of hygiene.

Primary care mostly takes place in the homes of seniors. Because they are familiar to their surrounding, it is easy to impose the changes without any resistance. Furthermore, nurses are friendly, and people, in reality, look up to their care (McCarthy, 2004). The presence of nurses and the whopping affection they show their patients helps them feel appreciated and loved. This is because most of the seniors have been ignored by their families who have indulged themselves in the activities of life and neglected them.

The elderly, in turn, feel unappreciated and lonely. In some cases, the nurses are the only people the elderly can refer to as family (AACN, 2007). More so, nurses are well situated to help meet the growing needs of healthcare. This is why it is easy for them to offer healthcare at the comfort of the seniors. Primary healthcare can take place anywhere not necessarily at the residence of the elderly person. The nurses can offer this firsthand service when needed anywhere. Another key role is community health care.

Community health care nurses face a much more challenging task as compared to nurses in the primary care field. It demands more performance from the nurses and zeal. Community health refers to a setting where there are a specific number of seniors in urgent need of health care. Their healthcare emergencies differ from individual to another. The seniors could be in their homes or somewhere communal where they can access healthcare easily. The nurses here require a vast amount of knowledge and patience (ASTHO, 2004).

This is due to the fact that senior citizens have a way of nagging, and it takes a well-composed person with the utmost level of tolerance to handle them. It is the formal duty of the community nurses to ensure that the elderly people are not experiencing any unnecessary hustles. Their capacity to make this aid, nevertheless, will rely on a revolution of nursing practice, leadership, and education. Lastly, the clinical nurse leader is the most significant asset in the healthcare of seniors. They focus on the improvement and well being of the elderly people and co-ordinate the nurses with the seniors (ASTHO, 2004).

They ensure that seniors are taken care of and that there is a good relationship between the seniors and the nurses. They are highly skilled and equipped to deal with even the most difficult situations. They also overlook patient care coordination, evaluate health risks, enhance quality improvement strategies, and alleviate team communication. Nurses contribute a lot to the chronology of the human attributes and lifestyle of senior citizens (ASTHO, 2004). They should be highly regarded and as they serve the human race in an extra-ordinary way of selflessness.

Without nurses, the healthcare system would be nothing. The American Association for Retired Persons should work to improve the working conditions for nurses and the amplification of their skills.
