Curriculum Development Issues Curriculum Development Issues Introduction The increasing demand in nursing program in adopting roles and responsibilities in professional status has become very difficult. Due to this, it has made some training programs to move in higher education. However, there have emerged other challenges on the same which hinder the development of the curriculum. The expense of the students which is involved in their courses is in high demand and this brings up the gap between theory and practice. Health care system is undergoing some unbelievable changes where by, the numerous forces at work are affecting the delivery system of care and health professionals. Curriculum Development in Nursing In comparison to politics, curriculum development is influenced by politics on the part of funding program. Generally, in private and public institution they all rely on funding in their development plans. Politics plays a big role in prevention of curriculum development goal. Many factors which hinder development rise from the politics. There are also Government norms which in turn bring other effect in the process of development. In nursing, the curriculum requires a lot of awareness in the diversity in targeting the society both social, psychological and financially (Mathew, 2012). The guideline to curriculum development requires selected learning goals and objectives. In designing knowledge, delivery models are needed in creating assessment methods in individual and groups progress. In consideration to this, registered nurses are facing a lot of constraints in health care system (Martin, 2012). The changes are often having relation to the increase in market penetration in care management. To relate this with politics, there may be no improvement to these changes because every contribution is taken underground by the politician. The politics lower the cost either by decreasing the employee’s benefits or increasing the productivity through substitution. The participants in the nursing field fell insecure since there is no job security in many states. The quality of supervision and the opportunities which they get in their work do not have any impact in delivery of care in patients. There are some numerous changes at work affecting work of health professional like significant effort at cost containment. Even though these constraints to registered nurses are revealed off, some areas in society have gone through restructuring the work (Dolly, 2009). Major implication to this aspect brings out an idea that curriculum must be modified. This helps a lot in the content of communication, organizing and good leadership skills with legislative polices. Finally, understanding the impacts of health care delivery system can help in ensuring effectiveness and efficiency in nursing services. Delivery Care The Nation’s health care system is undergoing a difficult change in delivery of health services in hospitals and other health institution. The ways nurses perceive about their job and institution working system shows a sign of changes. Insurance companies are increasing control and care in patients thus reducing nurse’s duties and responsibilities. Delivery care operations impacts are evidenced where the increase of paper works and work load not even recognized by nurses. Now, to cater for this situation nurses who see their job satisfaction as declining should report or provide a warning note. It is also important to determine the impacts brought about by changes in delivery of patient care. Reduction of nursing staff below certain level results to low out come because the number of patents reduces (Dolly, 2009). Diversity Social diversity including culture, religions and social groups are affecting curriculum in a wide range. Characteristics and method of teaching using different topics deliver different teaching information. This relevant curriculum takes into account society’s expectations in accommodating traditional groups and promoting equality. Learning theories affects human thinking in developing the curriculum (Mathew, 2012). On the same hand, understanding the psychology factors minimize enables individuals to grasp learning concepts easily. Teaching periods are initiated most in the opportunity experienced. The element of nursing in performing jobs is difficult due to cultural diversities and involvement of learning theories. Environment World awareness and action towards reversing in ending pollution is still an impact to the curriculum development. To emphasize on this, teaching practice in classrooms concentrate on recycling and healthy environmental issues while in higher education system offering environmentally degrees becomes the order of the day. In addition to this, curriculum development is also affected economically in house training focuses on educating employees for promotion in return or better profits. Government, when financing student’s education, they expect an economic return from educated students contributing to countries economy. This must have global competition ability in technical fields (Martin, 2012). The goals of the learners are influenced with effect to curriculum development. Strategies to Solve the Issue In developing these compassionate, some strategies in creating a new vision and strategies in nurses have to develop (Mathew, 2012). Nurses have an amazing role in treatment and care plans. They support people left in families and relatives care when undergoing medical or health problems. Commitment and competence are the most importance strategies which are supposed to be applied in both private and public setups. The increasing demand of nurses to adopt the role and full responsibilities has been reflected in nurse training by move in higher education. Good Communication Effective communication is very vital in every aspect as far as curriculum development is concerned. Modern nurses need equipment and technology in order for their work to be effective and efficient in today’s world. In comparison, there is the fact that “blowing our own trumpet” in this saying, the vision is very comprehensive but would benefit from the aspects which nurses are often reluctant. The experiences and role of nurses need to be better understood and practiced (Martin, 2012). Conclusion Health care system is undergoing profound changes in today’s world where by nurses have an amazing role in treatment and care. To emphasize on this, the impact of health care delivery system should be addressed with implications in nursing education so as to have change in future.
