"Interviewing New Nurses" is a wonderful example of a paper on care. Healthcare is one of the most developed areas in the contemporary world and has a very important role to play in the lives of people. This is from the fact that the health of a person is the most vital aspect of their life as it helps in the development and shaping of character in other different areas. Healthcare workers thus require to be effective and of quality to meet the highest set standards in the field. The hiring of medical workers is a process that requires high amounts of attention focused on it and thus the importance of understanding the process to go about it.

Given the position to assist in the interviewing process of a nurse and putting into consideration the position of the health facility, the main concerns of the organization are considered. The position allows one to govern who exactly is employed, the interviewee’s personality in general, what the interviewee is ready and willing to do once the job is offered, and most importantly, the reason behind the employee applying for the particular job.

Different criteria and modes of interviewing get incorporated in the process, all depending on the expected outcome (Masters, 2009). For instance, in this particular case, it is vital for the organization to come up with one that aims at getting clear vital information that is necessary in the choosing of the most appropriate candidate as per the result of the interview. One criterion is whereby the interviewer makes use of open questions such as “what led to your interest in nursing?” This gives more information about each applicant, facilitating easier and accurate decisions made on who is the favorite employee.

On the other hand, making use of closed-question such as “do you have a passion for nursing?” or “is nursing your passion?” doesn’t quite result in the making of the best choices as answers to these questions tend to be very general and reflects rather very shallow information about the applicant. These would result in the making of decisions, only to regret later on.

It is thus advised, that the criteria used to carry out the interview, as well as that used to rule out whom the best candidate for the job is, is a thorough one, that gives conclusive information relating to each candidate and therefore, the more favorable candidate is evident, beyond any reasonable doubt (Emerson, 2010). In an interview in search of a nurse, questions that may prove essential to come up with the most appropriate candidate for the job may for reading for example;

  1. What led to your interest in the field of nursing?
  2. Elaborate on one particular situation when you felt that you did a good job as a nurse.
  3. Describe one specific situation whereby you found yourself working under a very sensitive boss or with a sensitive client.
  4. What are some of the things that you have done in a move to show consideration for others?
  5. What type of colleagues do you work best with and what type of colleagues you would least want to work with.
  6. Do you think you will be a career nurse or eventually look for another profession? Why?

These are just among many questions applicable in the carrying out of an interview in search of a good nurse. Answers to these questions give a rounded up image of the candidate helping the interviewer come up with the right decision concerning who gets the job and who does not. In this case, the applicant who gives proper and relevant details, in form of answers to these questions is likely to be the candidate who walks out of the room with the job.
