"Professional Nursing Concepts: Competencies for Quality Leadership" is a perfect example of a paper on care. Nursing is increasingly becoming a complicated and stressful career due to various reasons (Finkelman & Kenner, 2010). Some of the vital reasons which have made the nursing profession complicated include technological change, an increasing population of patients, and workflow patterns. In fact, the image of the nurses is at stake (Finkelman & Kenner, 2010). This is one of the underlying predicaments in the nursing profession. According to various researchers, the image of the nurses is usually portrayed in a negative manner. This paper will address the image of the nursing profession by conducting an interview in relation to the nursing issue.

According to the interviews carried out, nurses are perceived in a negative way. The nurses Sarah, Kimberly, and Ashley have stated that the provision of patient-centered care in nursing is a challenging task. Various scholars affirm that nurses are extremely vital in healthcare facilities. A recent study confirms that patient satisfaction is influenced by the nursing department in any health facility. It is quite evident that patients expect quality nursing care in order to anticipate a quick recovery from the medical condition. Therefore, when nurses meet the required standards, the patients are fully satisfied with their hospital conditions (Finkelman & Kenner, 2010). On the other hand, nurses are not appreciated even after offering such care to patients.

The nursing profession has significantly suffered from public stereotyping, helplessness, and femininity. Thus, nurses are frustrated by the influence of other corporations that make health care decisions on behalf of the nursing department and other professions in the health care facilities.  Therefore, individuals are advised to portray a positive image of nurses in order to improve their services (Paul & Elder, 2009).

The information collected from the interviews proves that nurses are perceived negatively in society. The interviewees presented similar information pertaining to the image of nursing. There is minimal positive reinforcement which is presented by the general public towards the nursing department. Nurses are supposed to use all their resources to maintain high spirits in their job specifications. Encouraging professional socialization and cultivating a positive idea of the nursing profession should be highly appreciated by all individuals (Paul & Elder, 2009).

Nursing has also gained a reputation as a trusted profession. On the contrary, it is crucial to comprehend how nurses are continually providing the best care in the health care facilities despite the stressful and challenging environment. Therefore, individuals should find ways of organizing care effectively and efficiently while at the same time maintaining a strong relationship and upholding values in the nursing profession (Finkelman & Kenner, 2010).

In conclusion, this study has the basic information related to the image of the nursing profession. The media should refrain from negatively portraying the role of the nurses negatively on the global scene. In fact, the media should launch shows which portray the nurses as critical thinkers basing on their general role in the health upkeep of society. The inaccurate media images of the nursing profession should also be discarded from the public eye (Finkelman & Kenner, 2010). This will change the view of the public members who misunderstand the nurses for sexual stereotypes and handmaidens. They are supposed to view the nursing profession as a paramount figure in the healthcare facilities.
