"Bringing Humility to Leadership" is an outstanding example of a paper on care.
According to William James, " The greatest revolution of our generation is the discovery that human beings, by changing the inner attitudes of their minds, can change the outer aspects of their lives" (Motivational Sayings).
Humility is the humble temperament demonstrated by an individual, a kind of confidence portrayed by an individual especially, by the leaders. It is the most sophisticated gesture displayed by leaders of the present era to convey the missed opportunity to promote the success of others. Humility could be defined as "a personal orientation founded on a willingness to see the self accurately and a propensity to put oneself in perspective. We believe that authentic humility involves neither self-abasement nor overly positive self-regard". (What is Humility in Leadership?).
According to Morris et al, (2005), humility has three aspects encompassing
a. Self-awareness, the aptitude of an individual to identify, comprehend and admit self strong points and limitations. Self-awareness and self-discipline are responsible for the knowledge and accepting the fact about lack of information. Such individuals are open to innovative ideas as well as the perspectives of others. Such acts promote the subordinates.
b. Openness brings humility to the leader to suggest the ways of improving and also accepting the novel ideas suggested by the subordinates.
c. Transcendence involves acceptance of the deed or an action greater than self. It deals with the appreciation of others and also to have an understanding that others too possess positive worth.
In the present case, the leadership qualities displayed by the Chief Nursing Officer is demonstrated in the form of enhancing the image of the organization in the mass so that people have a positive viewpoint about the health services provided by the organization, by organizing routine inspection from Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services. Such an approach aids in humanizing the image of the organization to attract people. This is the gesture of humility displayed by the Chief Nursing Officer.
It is desired to have an understanding of the servitude and self-abasement to enhance self-worth as well as the significance or distinctiveness of the leader (What is Humility in Leadership?). The leader must display divergent and self-motivated leadership skills, this is essential for the management of the organization, communication with the employees, designing and analyzing the strategies, and creating a vision for the appropriate working of the organization. It, therefore, becomes essential for the leaders of the organization to miss the opportunity to promote the success of others. Leaders holding the administrative post exploit these skills of leadership as the basis to generate competency-based occupation portrayal and expansion programs. Considering humility to reach its new paradigms, it is important to understand the leadership approach. Leaders are required to promote cognitive growth for the holistic development of the organization. The organization is benefitted if the leaders display missed opportunity to promote the success of others as it is a way to teach the employees how to manage time, the method to impart information, human resource management, to understand the importance of revenue and expenses, to keep abreast with the information technology and equipment management. Leaders therefore at times display the missed opportunities to utilize humility for the betterment of the organization as well as employees (Diana et al, 2004).
