First, the events were real-life occurrences of what I have known a support group to be. In fact, it is a place where people with a common problem come together to share experiences and improve each other’s situation. In this regard, many things happened in the meeting. For instance, the guide introduced the meeting and requested a moment of silence, which helped to grab members’ attention.

A closer look at the state of affairs at that time showed that attendants were ready to take part in the day’s proceedings. Further, it was motivational to observe the order in which members gave their contribution. One at a time, everyone narrated their experience, expressing ways in which they have dealt with the challenges they faced. The foreseer guided them through the discussion to ensure question-asking was a productive exercise. There was more than just sharing of experiences in the support group.

The session helped the depressed patients to improve on their interpersonal relationship skills, and socialize more with peers. Essentially, depression is a serious health concern that troubles many people. However, it was easy to note that patients with depression are different from other mentally-ill people, such as the schizophrenic. They are more withdrawn, and less willing to involve in discussions. I observed that professionals were tasked with ensuring fruitful participation that guaranteed that everyone gains from the process.

The idea of an inspired life appeals to everyone. Consequently, I was more inspired to change lives by engaging in many other depression patients’ support groups.
