Nursing theory al Affiliation) NURSE-PATIENT RELATIONSHIP This paper clearly describes an analysis of the role of nurse theorists in connection with the major functions of the nurse. Literature proves that the concept of nursing is difficult to define though it is possible to elaborate the core values of nursing and the team spirit that that run through the profession (Alligood & Marriner, 2006). Identification of the core components by an examination of the literature are the development of systems for coordinating care, delivery of care, providing technical care, caring for the ill and the well, protecting the weak and vulnerable. The aim of this paper is to provide a core reflection of what nursing entails and do the comparison of their values and images of nursing and the one written down by theorists. The nursing theory has many issues that the report will show in steps that are having finer details on the main topic. From the literature available, it is clear that the role of the nurse is not easily illustrated by the theorists from within the profession failing to agree on the exact nature of nursing. Introduction In cases, that the nursing models are using the base for the practice and development of nursing knowledge is increasingly bringing the issue of critics and questions by nurse scholars for not providing realistic descriptions of nursing. Studies show that the way forward is to develop the region of nursing knowledge, as this will make nurses to clear their operations. A general theory of nursing or a general model in nursing that combines the whole profession is to ignore. This statement brings a point on the basis that the variety in nursing prevents the emergence of an overall theory of nursing. The nursing theory provides an idea from which to define what of the nursing, to describe whom, specifically clients of nursing and the time that the nursing activities are done. There is also the identification of the boundaries and the goals of nursing therapeutic operations. In this case, theory is a very important principle to effective nursing practice and research. The idea of professionalism in nursing has been in the rise steadily through the development and using of nursing theory (Algase, 2008). The idea of nursing theory develops in order to describe the process and occurrence of the nursing concept. The nursing theory clearly separates nursing from other areas of disciplines and operations that elaborate the purposes of prediction, explanation and controlling favorable results of nursing care operations. The core purpose of the theory in the scientific arena is to control research to facilitate the science by supporting the existing knowledge or coming up with new knowledge (Tyra, 2013). The grand theory This process is composed of concepts representing global and extremely complex phenomena. It is the largest in scope represents the most abstract level of growth and development. This will probably address the broad ideology of concern with the discipline. Generally, the concept of grand theory intends not to offer guidance for the creation of actual nursing interventions, but rather provides an overall framework for structuring broad and abstract ideas (Alligood & Marriner, 2006). Literature review The nursing theory provides an idea from which to define what of the nursing, to describe whom, specifically clients of nursing and the time that the nursing activities are done. The nursing theory clearly separates nursing from other areas of disciplines and operations that elaborate the purposes of prediction, explanation and controlling favorable results of nursing care operations (Alligood & Marriner, 2006). The core purpose of the theory in the scientific arena is to control research to facilitate the science by supporting the existing knowledge or coming up with new knowledge. The problem or issues These various situations make the progress of the theory in nursing to decline. They always bring losses in an organization and should be avoided as much as possible. Problems are issues that are always there in an organization but strategies to avoid them should be in place. The nursing theory in specific has regulations that will minimize the probability of having the defects (Algase, 2008). There are major issues in the concept of nursing theory that are specific in the discussion of this article. They include nursing leadership, nursing education, nursing informatics, or the health policies. The issue of nursing leadership The concept of behavioral theory assumes that leaders are actually made not born. The idea of this theorist was on the basis that anyone can learn to be a leader. Within organizations, informal and formal information pertaining leadership values, training modeling and culture shapes expectations and behavior. When expectations do not match the behavior, the issue of role conflict can occur. In a situation where a nursing student moves out of the students’ role to become a staff nurse or when a nurse fights to over throw the head nurse role, conflicts may occur and until these individuals learn new behavior methods (Tyra, 2013). Autocratic leaders make decisions without inquiring from anybody. This approach may lead to the worst level of discontent and can cause a mass o revolution. Democratic leaders involve people in their decisions although they may make the final decision. Participants in this structure may appreciate being consulted, but they may by mix up when disappointed by a wide range of suggestions with no clear way to reach a decision (Marquis & Huston, 2009). In the exploitative authoritative style, the leader uses threats and other harsh methods to achieve conformance. In this situation, peoples’ concerns are ignored and unfortunately, communication comes from the top to bottom. In the form of benevolent dictatorship, rewards are distributed and appropriate performance is praised. The leader listens to peoples’ ideas although the opposite is done in most cases. Some decisions may be made as a group but the leader is the one to implement. In the nursing theory, there must be strategies to avoid the issue on leadership problems. The strategies include, making each individual confortable in his or her department, allowing workers to form organizations that will fight for their rights (Kukkola, 2010). Nursing education This majorly arises due to different levels of education in an organization. During their clinical education, students are expected to learn nursing skills and procedures in order to deepen the search of knowledge, critical thinking, and problem solving (Marquis & Huston, 2009). Education standards should be improved to handle situations of non-uniformity. This situation may lead to permanent forms of grudge in the place of work. It is always common between the seniors and juniors or the staff and the subordinate. This kind of issue may bring a serious problem as competing on that is responsible for the attendance of patients. The theory of nursing is appropriately handling the issue by offering educational services to its workers to levels that are standard. This is done to those who are competent in their work thus it acts as a motivation factor for hard work. Nursing informatics This refers to the process of advancing nursing science, information science and computer science in order to manage and transform data, knowledge, and information in the situation of nursing practice. It facilitates the integration of data, information, and knowledge to support the nurses, patients, and providers in decision-making in all roles and settings. The major problems that encounter this concept are issues such as high initial costs, high maintenance costs, inadequate modern technology within an economy, inadequate knowledge for operating the equipment, and the ignorance (Marquis & Huston, 2009). The nursing informatics is a paramount concept that should maintain in the nursing theory in order to retain the standard rate of services. The strategies may include providing the medical sector with the appropriate knowledge to operate the equipment and embracing the modern technology (Kukkola, 2010). Health policy This concept always ensures that patients and nurses are in good health conditions. This facilitates a healthy working community in order to improve the production levels. For example, nurses will only attend to patient effectively when they are in good health conditions. A consultation unit should be in place such that health services can be readily provided at any time. Through this, the nursing theory will overcome various challenges. Various strategies are rising to control this defect. The strategies include coming up with centers that can offer free and fast medical services to patients who need a faster response (Tyra, 2013). Application of the concepts and principles of grand theory This process is composed of concepts representing global and extremely complex phenomena. It is the largest in scope represents the most abstract level of growth and development. This will probably address the broad ideology of concern with the discipline. Generally, the concept of grand theory intends not to offer guidance for the creation of actual nursing interventions, but rather provides an overall framework for structuring broad and abstract ideas (Powers & Knapp, 2011). Concepts are majorly there in order to construct the theory. Theory building requires definition of concepts that are clear and precise while setting boundaries between what is there and what is not there (Kukkola, 2010). There is always consideration of who, what, when, where and how. When these various questions are answered then the deal is done. In the nursing theory, the grand theory considers patients and the nurses. The factor that is an issue here is that how can the individuals be in favorable conditions for a smooth operation. The time that the concept should happen should be convenient to both parties. This change should happen in a place that most of the individuals in need can access easily. Implementation of the grand theory will be successful if there is a proper coordination from the top management to the bottom (Algase, 2013). Conclusion In summary, it is very clear that there is no perfect description of the role of the nurse. It is important for nurses to develop their source of wisdom base and elaborate their returns of nursing in practical arenas to clarify the concept of nursing. This entails the fundamental skills and values of the nursing function. This greatly challenges workers to apply more effort in their field. Efforts to pervade a theoretical viewpoint in the humanistic creativity of nursing have had incomplete accomplishment but the organizational and theoretical tests are not valuable. This article clearly describes an analysis of the role of nurse theorists in connection with the major functions of the nurse (Powers & Knapp, 2011). Literature proves that the concept of nursing is difficult to define though it is possible to elaborate the core values of nursing and the team spirit that that run through the profession.
