Topic: Teaching paper Teaching plan for stress management Introduction Stress management is one of the essential elements of human growth. It entails a stable emotional control of the mind in response to tensions or stressing situations. Majority of stress management problems in young people are attributed to their daily live activities. The reasons why young adults get stressed include unemployment, the transition to self dependence, drug addiction, relationship problems and students who are on the verge of facing a major exam (Kottler & Chen, 2012). This document develops a teaching plan for students in young adults both collage and high school levels on stress management issue and its related impacts. It uses discussion and case method to illustrate the effects and solution to stress management disorder in the young adults with more stress being on high school and college students. Goals and objectives of the teaching plan The major occurs of the research lies on its goals towards student health enhancement. In this case, the teaching plan helps students to understand the forms of stress, causes of stress in young adults, characteristics of despairing episodes used for the prognosis of dejection, gender analysis and contribution to the prognosis of stress management disorder, amount of anger that relates to the prognosis of depression as well as ways of countering stress problems among students in various institutions (Kottler & Chen, 2012). The goals of the teaching plan research aim at solving the growth of stress management disorder in schools which is highly related to drug addiction among young people, transition to self dependence, relationship issues as well as exam related stress. Young adults are prone to stress disorders due to the high level of adrenaline fluctuation as a result of the adolescent stage. The objective of the teaching plan is to provide assessment of stress management in young adults. This objective helps learners to understand the primary causes of stress management disorder and its impending effects to health thus achieving one of the learning goals of creating awareness. The teaching plan also aims at creating programs that help students deal with stress management issues as it targets an essential and vulnerable group in the human growth process. Due to this notion, the document helps to achieve the learning goal of problem solving through use of education. The teaching plan also achieves the objective of enhancing learning through the provision of knowledge. Theoretical framework There are many theories regarding stress disorder that provide a deep understanding to the concept behind the relation of stress management and health. Stress response theory is one of the common theories that explain the nature of stress management disorder resulting from intensive mental strain or trauma (Virginia Hill Rice, 2008). The theory defines stress as a reaction to body’s adaptive reactions. In this case, stress is highly affiliated with the fluctuation of body adrenaline. This aspect makes stress management disorder a common health problem in the young adult generation. The theory affiliates stress management problem to all things that lead to the creation of adrenal cortex. Young adult are prone to stress management disorder as a result of high production of adrenal fluid in their body system. Adolescent stage is the major target as it is at this life phase where the body experiences physical and mental transition from childhood to adulthood (Virginia Hill Rice, 2008). In this case, the mind is prone to managing numerous activities which can result to a nervous strain thus leading to stress. At this point, a person ought to generate mechanisms that promote the ability of the nerves system to adapt to intensive stress (Virginia Hill Rice, 2008). Students in high schools and collages tend to experience emotional tension which is related to their daily persona and education experiences. These set of young adult society is burdened with the transition from childhood to adulthood thus making it a form of distress as they tend to imagine their impending future. As a result, many students are distressed with examination outcomes and pressure from parents, the form of survive after completing their degree course due to lack of job opportunities, drug addiction as this is the age of adventure thus many students begin using narcotics and find it hard to quit eventually due to addiction. Teaching principles One of the learning and teaching principles perpetuates that; assessment practice is fundamental to learning and teaching. Rather than being the cause of stress management disorder, assessment can be a form of remedy if adaptive programs are put to practice. Learning also entails a practical approach of the theoretical knowledge. Stress management is a concept that can be adopted through learning and the use of practical adaptive programs. Recurrent activities help the mind to adapt to strenuous activities that may result to stress. In this case, assessment is one of the programs that help in stress management. Teaching strategies Discussion is one of the most effective teaching strategies to be employed in this teaching plan. The strategy enables students to participate in the teaching plan as they discuss on the importance of early preparation to assessment as well as the essence of keeping composure in class in order to counter the chances of developing panic during exams. Discussion also students to enlist the series of events that may result to stress as well as answering questions that relate to stress management processes. Students are able to focus on emerging issues in a discussion forum thus providing general assessment and solution. Stress management is an outcome of a variety of entities, both in the psychological and social set up. Discussion provides an interactive learning environment in which student are able to raise situations, analyze them and arrive at solution. Stress management is a wide field of study as it involves the study of cognitive processes and their reaction to the physical environs that generate stress (Adelaide Health Technology Assessment, 2010). Discussion is effective in the solving of gender issues related to stress as it involve an open platform where both gender forms tend to raise their experiences(Adelaide Health Technology Assessment, 2010). Case method will also be used to as a teaching strategy in the teaching plan. The method is effective as it uses real life exams to explain the causes and effects of stress thus illustrating management approaches. The strategy will help in the teaching of prognosis of stress management disorder and ways in which it can be countered. Real life examples help the students contemplate and assess themselves. The Stress management is characterized by a variety of despairing episodes in young adults. Dejection is one of the episodes that is brought about by intensive stress and anxiety. These aspects are common in young adults as they are in a form transition in the education and social society. Some ought to engage in narcotics in order to manage stress which may lead to adverse reaction such as suicidality, abrupt anger and self devaluation (Adelaide Health Technology Assessment, 2010). Instructional materials and evaluation of methodology The teaching plan involves the use of PowerPoint projectors and charts. This is due to the use of pictures to illustrate the content of the study. The materials are efficient in the teaching plan as it is will be used to do an oral presentation in class. The plan entails response questions in which the student will be required to answer on stress management practices. This notion is aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of the teaching plan. Students will be asked to give personal stress experiences and try to use the concepts learned in solving the situations. Conclusion Stress management is a complex concept that entails the understanding of audience in order to teach effectively. In the case of young adult, facilitates ought to associate the lesson with practical experiences facing the audience. As a result, examination stress, transition to self dependence, relationship issues among teens, use of narcotics and unemployment among the most common problems facing young adults that may lead to stress management disorder (Kottler & Chen, 2012). This notion makes the teaching plan effective as it solves these issues in an interactive set up using personal experiences and responses from the audience.
