Furthermore, she is able to effectively explain the consequences of poor hand hygiene. This helps her to provide the importance of this change plan. However, the main weakness is that she is not able to identify specific measures aimed at promoting good hand hygiene practices.

Six Step Change Plan:Ms Duplessis managed to explain and identify the six step change plan as advocated by Rosswurm and Larabee’s. These steps are, assessing the need of change in the practice, linking the problems, outcomes and interventions, synthesizing the best evidence, designing the practice change, implementation and evaluation of the change in practice, and maintaining and integrating the change in practice. All these steps are clearly identified and defined in this work by Ms Duplessis.

In explaining the first step, Miss Duplessis is effective in identifying the need of change. The need under consideration is determining whether the hand hygiene compliance program would help in increasing the availability of hand sanitizer, and increase awareness that can help in the reduction of hand infections. The weakness in this step is failure by Ms Duplessis to identify specific illnesses associated with hand washing. Under step two, Ms Duplessis managed to link the problem, with the intervention measures and outcomes.

For instance, she denotes that poor hand hygiene compliance is linked with the infection control rates. Under step 2, Ms Duplessis managed to highlight the possible intervention measures in preventing hand infections, and this includes training of nurses, education, and provision of hand sanitizers. However, she does not highlight the kind of training, and education that medical practitioners should get, in regard to prevention of hand infections. Under the third step, Ms Duplessis manages to identify the various diseases that are brought about due to poor hand hygiene.

These are diseases such as C-Diff. However, there is insufficient information under step 4, which involves designing the practice change. She identifies the major players in this process, without giving out their roles. Under step 5, Ms Duplessis manages to identify the specific steps to be carried out. This includes issuing out warnings concerning the dangers of poor hand hygiene. Under the sixth step, Ms Duplessis manages to explain the method she would use in maintaining change. This stage is well explained, and contains sufficient information.
