In this sense, it adds to the development of sociological thought by mainly focusing on the topic of love, and the way is is vital in developing social interactions between different people. It brings various people together through the aspect of commonality which is shown by the need by everyone in the society to be loved and to love in return. It is brought out by the fact that Bell Hooks gets to the heart of the matter in his book and attempts to show men ways through which they can express their emotions differently as an important element that shows who they are.

It is in reference to their age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, ethnicity and marital status. According to the author, social organization is the manifestation of the delineates of nature through patriarchy, which according to Hooks is the dominator culture. Social organization makes people struggle for power in a violent way so that they are able to dominate those who are weak and in turn resist the domination of those who are more powerful. It is for this reason that men and women are both equal and encased in its dictates.

It is because they equally promote its demands and reveals the way with which men are stopped from expressing their individual emotions especially through the discomfort of their female partners. It thus refers to the call to those who are not committed to aligning themselves with the kind of visionary activities that are related to radical feminism. It is also contributed by their male friends who have extreme feelings especially when they start talking about their deeper emotions. The contents of the book touch on all aspects of the life of a male person.

These begin from the beginning of childhood, the experience at school, their sexual affiliations, relationships as well as their interactions and friendships with others. He indicates the kind of boyhood socialization to be violence.
