Inequality for All The film Inequality for All by Reich examines the widening inequality in the USA. It analyses issues related to power and explores the democracy of the American government. Politically, the movie is a simple proposition of a perfect society and the roles that widen the gap of income in the deterioration of the health of an economy. I think this movie intertwines a number of yardsticks for use in determining inequality throughout the plot. Some of the pillars that stand out are power and how it positively and negatively impacts the society, discrimination, prejudice, nursing role, and social exclusion.
The movie has aspects of discrimination in the case where Reich engages in humor that is self-deprecating. There are glimpses about the torture and bullying that he passed through because of his size. There is also an aspect of discrimination in the event where the bigger boys like Michael Schwerner protect him from the bullies (Dungan, Kornbluth, 2013).I think the movie represents inequalities in the USA in power and interpersonal relations. From my understanding of politics, the case of Michael protecting the victim of the bully is a symbol of the way an ordinary American undergoes prejudice from fellow Americans who are in better positions of power.
It depicts America as a society encompassed with social exclusion and inequalities in all sectors of the economy. From my own experience, politicians play a massive role in either eliminating social exclusion and using power in the rightful way or destroying the pillars of the same. Reich depicts a society infested by power hungry politicians and elements of prejudice and altruism (Dungan, Kornbluth, 2013). ReferencesDungan. S, Dungan, & Kornbluth, J.
