? Stem Cells School Affiliation This research work explores the scenario of stem cell research and unveils the scope of different typesof stem cells within medical field. To be specific, this research work explores the regenerative medical purpose, treatment of deadly diseases, and research purpose of stem cells. This research work discusses the scope of bone-marrow transplantation for blood cancer. The discussion aims to unearth the scope of stem cell therapy in curing blood cancer. So, this research work aims to put forth balanced exploration and discussion on the scope and usability of stem cells within medical field. Stem Cells The most important characteristic of stem cells is the potential to transform into different types of cells. Besides, stem cells can perform the role of a repair system within human body. Within this scenario, Embryonic Stem Cells are generally used for regenerative medical purposes. On the other side, Adult Stem Cells are helpful for the treatment of deadly diseases generally noticed among human beings. The Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells are used for research purposes, aiming to develop proper medication for deadly diseases. So, one can see that the scientific research related to stem cells can solve some of the health problems faced by human beings in general. Thesis statement: The stem cells like Embryonic Stem Cells (ESC), Adult Stem Cells (ASC), and Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells (iPSC) are helpful to develop medicines and proper remedy for deadly diseases, especially like bone-marrow transplantation for blood cancer. Stem cell types This section is broadly divided into: Embryonic Stem Cells, Adult Stem Cells, and The Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells. Embryonic Stem Cells These stem cells are developed from human embryos, especially from the inner parts of embryos undergoing the process of growth. Crocker (2008) states that, “Stem cells, both embryonic and adult, could be used to replace damaged tissue in several ways” (p.6). To be specific, these cells within this stage of growth can be used for tissue transplantation and similar medical uses. But these cells cannot be simply injected into human bodies because the same may develop into unexpected tumors. Besides, some human bodies may reject this type of stem cells and scientists are working hard to find out an apt solution for this problem. Still, these stem cells can be used for regenerative medication purposes. On the other side, one can see that the research work related to these stem cells provide hope to humanity because the same was successfully used in the year 2010 among the victims of spinal injury. In short, further research within this field may prove importance of this stem cell because research work related to the same is undergoing gradual progress. Adult Stem Cells These stem cells are generally used for research and treatment purposes. In addition, the research on this type of stem cells attracts less criticism because it is not produced from embryos. Zyl (2009) states that, “Some physicians and scientists believe that adult stem cells are not as versatile or effective as embryonic stem cells, while others have shown that adult stem cells are highly effective against most major diseases” (p. xiii). As these stem cells are collected from adults, there is less risk because rejection related to human immunity is out of focus. Besides, medical treatment related to these stem cells proves to be successful because the same is used for the treatment of leukaemia and other diseases. Still, further research can unveil the future scope of this type of stem cells within the context of medical treatment. So, one can see that the research related to this type of stem cells show rapid progress and is helpful to fight some deadly diseases. The Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells The IP stem cells are developed by scientists by reprogramming the same to acquire the main characteristics of ES cells. To be specific, this stem cell is important within the scenario of stem cell research, especially in developing proper medication for deadly diseases. One can see that IP stem cells can be used for transplantation purposes among human beings. Besides, IP stem cells can be considered as an important step within stem cell research because the same is helpful to overcome the problems related to the rejection of donated stem cells by human immune system. Future research and development may help to identify more uses of these stem cells within modern medical treatment in general. Discussion: bone-marrow transplantation Generally, stem cell therapy is used to repair / restore dented tissues in human bodies by using stem cells. To be specific, stem cell therapy can reduce the possibility of rejection of tissues and is an important weapon against deadly diseases. Within this scenario, the ability of stem cells (say, self-renewal) is made use by the scientists to remove damaged tissues and replace the same with stem cells. Most of the research works related to stem cells are not fully developed, but current research on the same is showing rapid progress and development. For instance, stem cell therapy related to bone-marrow transplantation has promising prognosis. Unlike other cells, hematopoietic stem cells possess the ability to renew and function like other cells. This is important because these stem cells can be used to renovate cells and tissues that are damaged. The identification of these stem cells by the scientists is generally considered as an important development within the treatment of deadly diseases. So, one can see that the current development within bone-marrow transplantation is indebted to this identification of the characteristics of hematopoietic stem cells. One can see that bone-marrow transplantation depends upon Hematopoietic stem cells, which are generally developed from human bone marrow. Gee (1991) opines that, “Transplantation of bone marrow has traditionally been viewed as a medical procedure and has not been subject to federal regulation” (p. 17). One must not misunderstand that this medical treatment is without any complication. Instead, this medical treatment is complicated and is usually undergone by patients who are facing deadly diseases like leukemia. On the other side, natural immunity creates complication to certain types of medical treatments. Besides, this leads to the dismissal of transplanted stem cells/tissues. So, the doctors make use of radiation to wipe out the recipient’s immunity and to transplant stem cells/tissues without much problem. But this medical treatment is most difficult and complicated because natural immunity resists donor stem cells/tissues. So, this medical treatment is strictly limited to the context of deadly diseases, not the common and easily curable diseases. Some of the complications related to bone-marrow transplantation and the uses of Hematopoietic stem cells include: matching donors and the difficulty to develop Hematopoietic stem cells outside human body. But close relatives can help patients by agreeing to donate their stem cells to the patients. If Hematopoietic stem cells are developed outside human body, medical treatment related to bone-marrow transplantation will become easier and cheaper. Still, the current development within the scenario of bone-marrow transplantation reduces complicated surgeries and related problems. In addition, successful transplantation helps patients to lead normal lives without further complications and health issues. Besides, the high level of success and survival tends doctors are researchers to adopt Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation as a reliable weapon against deadly diseases including cancer. Summing, the current development within the context of stem cell research is indebted to the development of science and technology. But the usage of ES cells for scientific research and curing deadly diseases is still under criticism. On the other side, the usage of AS cells is helpful to overcome this sort of criticism because the same does not make use of embryos for scientific research. Besides, IP stem cells help the scientists/researchers to overcome most of the complications related to stem cell transplantation. So, one can see that stem cell research can be considered as the end result of the fight against deadly diseases. In addition, bone-marrow transplantation for blood cancer is an innovation within medical treatment. But some of the complications related to stem cell therapy are still unresolved and future research may resolve the same. In short, stem cell therapy is a remedy for deadly diseases, and stem cells help the scientists and researchers to go beyond the limits of traditional medical treatment. References Crocker, C.L.
