The National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women's Health (NANPWH) is a professional organization that identifies and recognizes women’s health. The association accords respect to women and endorse them as decision makers for their own health. The association accepts membership of Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRN), the registered nurses and even prospecting students. The association does not discriminate against women, regardless of age, race, or class (American Nurses Association, 2010). Imagine your mother suffers from an ailment and must need a nurse practitioner on a daily basis to take care of her. Imagine your little sister suffer from a cardiac arrest and will require blood transfusion from time to time on a daily basis, for her to survive. Imagine diagnosis of your best friend comes out and shows that she has ovarian cancer and will need advanced care for a long time. Imagine that you cannot help much because you are not in any health associated professional organization. These are not attractive images are they? Unfortunately, such terrible things happen, they might have happened to your loved ones already. I know you are expecting the hospitals to take care of such cases. I understand that you are expecting the hospital to have all the resources that will help them to recover or even to prolong their lives. However, hospital alone is not enough to guarantee their full return to health. What would you do in your case? There is one thing you should do to help. This is one reason why you should join The National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women's Health (NANPWH). This association deals with women’s health, and will take care of such cases if a nurse practitioner enrolls as a member. The mission of the association is to ensure that nurse practitioners provide women of all ages with quality health care. Health care in this case includes the physical, spiritual, and emotional needs of a woman. The association provides protection of women rights, in the context of making own decisions pertaining to their health, and promotes women health based on their beliefs either cultural or religious. My sister suffered in a hospital for a long period, but I could not do much to help her. Last month one of our colleagues in this clinic opened my eyes and convinced me to join the association. Now its one month since my sister left the hospital, she has recovered and is about to resume work. This is because of the constant care that the association provided. You cannot wait until it is too late for you to join (American Nurses Association, 2010). The leadership of the association is democratic and well recognized by the government. The Government recognizes that NANPWH is a significant contributor in nursing and women health care. The president of the organization usually presents a testimony on women health issues to the congress, to the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and to the Food and Drug administration. The association provides education about policies of the organization to all members and ensures that they participate in the policy making process. Some members in the leadership team are nurse practitioners who have experience and understand the dynamics of health care needs for women. They lead nurse practitioners in the provision of health care to women in any setting, from a primary setting to a hospital. Apart from nurse practitioners, the association works in collaboration with other health groups and individuals such as physicians, the community women health groups other individuals in advanced nursing such as clinical nurse specialists and other groups in the health care industry (American Nurses Association, 2010). The leaders of the association always ensure that all nurse practitioners obtain proper education, and provide them with adequate information on practice and health issues pertaining to women. This is another reason you should join since you are going to get added experience, which will be invaluable to your career. The leadership also provides guidelines for the nurse practitioners, which helps the nurse practitioner to serve while providing the women health care. This does not mean that you leave your job in this clinic, you can serve in the association in your off days, or when you are on leave. In case you have a woman in your family who is sick, it is not necessary that you take care of her yourself since another nurse practitioner allocated to her by the association can take care of her. The department of education in the United States Government recognizes the organization that it can accredit nurse practitioners in women health, and forward their names to the National Certifying body NCC (Ahmed, 2012). The benefits of joining this association are many compared to the costs. The amount you will pay every month is $10. This amount cannot compare to the costs that your loved one will have to incur in a hospital. The association will provide free care to the person free of charge courtesy of the little money you pay every month as a member. On top of that, every nurse practitioner benefits in terms of education, which the association provides at no cost. NANPWH has removed any barriers to registered nurse practitioners, to enable them to practice regardless of the status of their degree. The association further promotes career development and professional growth by encouraging the acquisition of experience by nurse practitioners and continual of education. Sometimes the association sponsors the outstanding nurse practitioners and funds them for a PHD program in a university of their choice. The association also protects the rights of nurse practitioners in women health. When you join, you will attend monthly meetings, which will sharpen your skills and broaden your expertise in female reproductive health such as management of cervical, breast and ovarian cancers, contraception, cancer management, female sexuality, pregnancy, treatment and prevention of urinary tract infections, and sexually transmitted diseases (Ahmed, 2012). The current political agenda is to enroll as many nurse practitioners as possible to cater for the rising demand of women health issues. The insurance companies are making a lot of profit from women, but unfortunately, some cannot afford insurance covers. The association plans to reach out to such women and that is why it requires more nurse practitioners. There is a planned nationwide campaign, which aims at educating women on matters concerning reproductive health, treatment, and management of cancer and dealing with menopause and hot flashes among other issues. There will be a caravan traversing all states in the country, teaching and demonstrating the importance of women’s health. There will be commercial ads on television for the same to ensure that all women benefit. The reason why you should join now is that there is absolute no reason why you should miss this. You should join now, in fact today if possible. The benefits I have told you are just a tip of the iceberg. More benefits will come your way once you join us. With the $10 that you will be paying every month, the health of women in your life will improve significantly. They will benefit through the education that you will provide to them, and through healthcare that will come their way in case there they fall sick. You will gain more education and experience, and your expertise will grow significantly. There is no doubt that the benefits outweigh the costs. You also have a head start in that you have a colleague like me who is a member and can provide you the necessary information. I assure you that no other organization in the country treats advanced nursing with such professionalism like NANPWH. I have reviewed several organizations and I have found none. Before my colleague came along to persuade me to join the association, I had wanted to join the American College of Nurse Practitioners but on thorough scrutiny, I found that it was not as potent as NANPWH. The reasons why you should join NANPWH are many, but in conclusion, the association will deal with health of women and will take care of health of even the women in your life. You as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse should not hesitate to become a member. The benefits outweigh the costs. The mission of the association is to ensure that nurse practitioners provide women of all ages with quality health care. This is an exceptionally noble mission and you as an APRN cannot miss out of this. The leadership is democratic and well recognized by the government, and the political agenda is attractive. You cannot afford to wait any longer. However, the decision to join lies with you. Make a bold decision now and save the health of women in our country.
