Therefore, Kate’s mother had the right to gain all information concerning her children, especially in cases where there is a problem. In this case, Anna violated this principle through her decision not to disclose to her mother and her lawyer the reason for suing her parents; instead, she decided to follow the plans of her sister. This was a problem to be solved through relevant communication among the family members to foster truthfulness (Dianne, 17).

On the other hand, some principles oppose Kate’s mother's decision like the principle of Nonmaleficence which poses an obligation to the health care providers, to prevent harm to patients. Kate’s mother violates this principle by making Anna undergo countless surgeries and transfusions, in a bid to assist her elder sister Kate, who is fighting leukemia. Therefore, Anna is conceived as a bone marrow donor for Kate, due to the procedures that she is subjected to, hence violating her right to live a healthy life. Therefore, Kate’s mother has no right to violate Anna’s rights to save Kate in a way that affects Anna’s well-being.

The other principle of justice requires that different cases be treated differently, hence fostering an equitable distribution of health care services. In this case, there was a high expectation concerning health care, thus the issues of justice are at the forefront for questions raised by policymakers related to the basis of healthcare services provision. The principle was reflected through Ann’s victory in the case against her parents; the court gave Anna the right over her body, and not to undergo any medical procedures to be a kidney donor to her sister Kate.

In this case, I would decide to liberate Anna from the medical procedures that are violating the principle of autonomy.
