ROCK AND POP MUSIC CONCEPT ALBUMS al Affiliation) The Story of Simon Simopath Concept Album This is one of the debut albums that were produced in the 1960’s. Specifically, it was produced by the Nirvana Rock Band Group in 1967. The concept behind this album is based on a story of a man, by the Name Simon Simopath. This concept album focuses on his life and death, characterized by various activities he undertook during his lifetime. The Story of Simon Simopath has a strong message that appeals to the emotions of its listeners. The album is composed of ten songs with each song narrating a story line that is directly related to the life and death of Simon Simopath. That is, the ten songs within this album focus on the story of Simopath. Annotation of the Songs within the Album Wings of Love Even before listening to this song, one would conclude that it is a love song, taking into consideration its name. The Wings of Love is a love song that makes the ten songs within the concept album of Simon Simopath. This song describes the manner through, which Simon was making wishes to the sky to permit him to have wings of love. It narrates how Simon made wishes in regard to possession of the wings and how he asserts that he would reward the skies in the case that he was given the wings of love. In addition, the song goes to an extent of narrating how Simon had made wishes to fall in love using the wings he demanded. There is proper use of rhythmic effects in this song, giving a rather sad feeling of a frustrated person that is in great desire to achieve something. Lonely Boy This is a two minute song within the concept album of Simon Simopath. From the manner through, which this song is sung, it evident that it was directed towards Simon Simopath; it narrates the sadness that Simon Simopath is experiencing. The song involves appropriate use of instrumental i.e. piano and guitars, played in a rhythmic manner, giving the song an love emotions and some sense of sadness regarding the loneliness that was experienced by Simon Simopath. In addition, the melody of the song through the use of the instruments that seems compatible with the singers. “We can help you” The song, “We can help you” is another song that was included in the concept album, Simon Simopath. The lyrics of this song focus on the life of Simon, by describing his efforts in his work place to make a living. Basically, the song is based on encouraging Simon that there is another quarter of the society, who can help him. The lyrics go ahead and describe how Simon would have had a peace of mind in the case that earth was in the sky. The instruments i.e. guitar, piano and drums are played a in a gentle manner giving the song a rather sad tone. In addition, they are played in a manner that they are compatible with the voices of the singers. Satellite Jockey This is also another 2 minute 35 seconds song within the album; Satellite Jockey taking into consideration the lyrics of the song is refers to Simon Simopath. This song narrates the manner, through, which Simon, being referred as Satellite Jockey has left for the space, with is lover; however, the name of the lover is not mentioned in the song. It is a love song, it is geared towards encouraging Simon that one day he would meet the love of his life and it involves the use instruments such as piano, drums as well as guitars played gently to give listeners some sense of love as well as sadness associated with it. In the Court Yard of the Stars This is another love song within the concept album of Simon Simopath. It was recorded for approximately 2 minutes and describes the romantic journey between Simon and Magdalene. Specifically, it describes how Simon would enjoy his love life with Magdalene as they wonder forests and other places with romantic natural sceneries. There is a proper mixture of instruments i.e. piano and drums, making the song compatible with the voices of the singers. On the other hand, there lyrics are arranged in a manner that they give the song an appropriate rhythmic effect thus creating some sense of entertainment. You are Just the One This song entails the use of appropriate mixture of instrumentation and voices of the singers, giving it a perfect love melody. There is also proper arrangement of rhyming words thus giving it an appropriate rhythmic effect. The song is based on description of Simon as the appropriate person that would bond effectively with Simon in order to develop a proper and long lasting relationship. Taking into consideration the manner through, which the song is played in a gentle and soothing mood, one would conclude that it is a love song characterized by sad tones. The Pentecost Hotel Among all the songs in this album, this was my favorite song; it is characterized by appropriate rhythmic effect. There is an appropriate mixture of instruments such as piano and drums that are compatible with the voices of the singers. It describes Magdalene and Simon’s wedding through a description of the natural environment in a Romantic manner. The first line of the first stanza ends with the word, ‘waves’, while the second line of the first stanza ends with the word, ‘rays’: This indicates a sense of rhyme.
