Extract of sample "Women and Performance in Intercultural Context"

The contrast of the articles While article 1 discusses the form of music which hulls abuses at women which is the gangster rap since this environment is considered a masculine performance environment; article 2 discusses a form of music where women and their growth in the music industry is highly appreciated. On the other hand, article 1 talks about the topic "Unladylike Divas": Language, Gender, and Female Gangsta Rappers” while article two talks about, “The return of the Femcee: New female rappers shake up the game” hence, the first article is quite retrogressive while the second article is progressive.

Conclusion It is true and quite clear that women have today cropped into the majority of the fields that were previously known to be purely for men such as in the music industry where women today can perform genres of music, which only men performed. Hence, women have experienced progressive growth hence renegotiation of femininity as expressed through their prowess in both gangster rap and hip-hop music (Lengel, Laura and John pg123).
