air or expo is an event or show organized by different organizations in similar industries to introduce their new products and services to the public. Trade shows allow the public to have direct experience with the products they heard about through the advertisements. It can help the consumers in taking purchasing decisions about a product after watching the performances of the product in the real world environment. It has been estimated that more than 2500 trade shows are held in United States every year.
If not managed and planned well, trade shows can create negative effects also, hence the companies which are attending or organizing the trade shows will take extreme care till the end of the show. LRH Products, the company, I am working for is about to attend a major trade show event in Kansas City, MO. Being an employee in the marketing division of the company, the responsibilities of conducting the show effectively, has been given to me also, by the company. Identification of the process groups related to a project management will be helpful for the successful execution of the trade show.
Project process group concepts are important in managing a project especially a trade show, successfully. Initiating, Planning, Executing, Monitoring & Controlling and Closing are the major process groups in the management of an expo. “At the start of any project, there will be a variety of ideas and opinions about the purpose and scope of the project, what the final product of the project will be, and how the project will be carried out. The Project Initiation Stage is concerned with taking these ideas and intentions and developing them into a formal, planned, resourced and funded project” (Project Management Process).
