Presently, Asian American is the acknowledged term for most official purposes, even though it is often condensed to Asians in common practice. In the US Census, citizens who originate from the native peoples of the Far East (China, Japan, and Korea) Southeast Asia (Cambodia, Vietnam, Filipino) and the South Asia (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka) are all categorized as part of the Asian race. Asian Americans are the second largest ethnic minority in the United States Art can be defined as the process or result of deliberately arranging elements in ways that appeal to the senses.

It includes a diverse variety of human activities, creations, and methods of expression, inclusive of music and literature. An artist is thus distinctive as any person who creates art. Fine art refers to skills that are used to express the artist’s creativeness, or to engage the audience’s artistic sensibilities, or to draw the addressees towards consideration of the higher things. Frequently, if the skill is being used in an ordinary or useful way, it is considered as a craft instead of art; and Commercial Art if the skill is being used in a marketable or industrialized way.

Crafts and design are also considered as applied arts. When it comes to the contribution to society by any ethnic group, the most recognizable input comes in the form of art, literature, and entertainment. Asian American writers, artists, and entertainers have thrived over the years as they express their identity, creativity and talent. Today, many are of them are getting the attention and honor that has been overdue. Together, their input represents the interrelations, minutiae, and contradictions that make up the Asian American experience.
