The play unravels and centers on the tottering relationship of Henry and Anne who is an actress in her own right and also a committee member who is put in charge of helping to free Brodie a Scottish soldier who is accused of setting fire to a memorial wreath when a protest was in session and had to be imprisoned. Infidelity is the fulcrum around which the play revolves. Max and Anne are married but even so Anne is found to be carrying on an illicit affair with Henry. Max finds out about the affair, they have a showdown and so Anne leaves the house and takes refuge with Henry.
Charlotte, Henry’s wife also comes to know of her two timing husband and decides to leave him but demands a huge sum of money as alimony which Henry finds difficult to meet. Making matters brim over, Charlotte makes an announcement of her numerous affairs during her life with Henry. His world topples over and when Anne walks in no simple words states that she is at present carrying on a shoddy affair with her young co- star called Billy, but she is in no way going to leave anyone of them. Henry is distraught by her behavior and knows no better way than to accept his situation.
Voice, though God given can be trained to a certain extent. It is one of the most essential things for a note- worthy performer. A well known vocal coach, Kristen Linklater (1976) who was also a very proficient teacher of acting and training people, emphasizes that if a performer has to deliver important dialogues and prove his skill in acting, then it is of utmost importance that he has a well trained voice.
