"Abortion Should Not Be Restricted." At Issue: Should Abortion Rights Be Restricted? Ed. Auriana Ojeda. San Diego: Greenhaven Press, 2003. Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center. Thomson Gale. Apollo Group. 10 Dec. 2007 The author does not have a bias, she represents her thesis by stating both sides of the story, and even admitting that doing so would cause her to be ridiculed by both the pro-choice and pro-life groups. The author is not vague or ambiguous, she explains her thesis well to her audience, and although she has not gone into lengthy details, the areas she has covered in this article are well thought out and well explained.
The author states that the conduct of the pro-life (or anti-choice, whichever one prefers) advocates shows that they do not campaign enough for safe-sex as well as for sex education in school, in order to prevent these unwanted pregnancies that ultimately result in abortion. She states that such people also oppose the access to contraceptive devices to ensure that the pregnancies do not occur. Therefore, they are actually not trying to get people to stop aborting fetuses but to stop having sex altogether.
The argument is very strong, as it is backed by proof; the author illustrates the abortion rates in Netherlands (the lowest in the world), as an example of how through good sex education and access to good contraceptive services, even with abortion being legal, the rates of abortion can be lowered. He then goes on to mention that immigrants spank their children too and should not be made to
