According to the article, “Immigration Transnation” byWaldinger and Professor Moore, there are several factors as supporting cross border connections. There are a variousof cross border and political and social dimensions of cross border connections.  Time-space compression is the most important factor to support cross border connections. In the article, Waldinger says that “What had taken a year in the 18th century, fell to a few weeks by the mid 19th, and dropped to roughly a week a century later” (Waldinger, 6).

It relates to the technology that reduces the significance between receiving and sending and processes. This can be achieved through investing heavily on the technology in order to enable people to communicate effectively with people located in another country. For instance, when people are able to communicate through phones, emails, fax, etc are unlikely to yearn to move to another country. During compression, cultures and communities ate merged due to growth and change. In addition, it becomes easy for the immigrants to send remittances to their country, an aspect that reduces the need for other family members to move to the host country.

Relationship between a host and home country is another aspect that plays a significant role in cross-border connections. In modern society, countries are forming the migration policy in order to ease the movement of people from one country to the other. With the current inter-trade agreements between the countries, people are moving from one country to another in search of better working conditions. Politics have also played a significant role in encouraging people to move from one country to another.

According to Waldinger (6), “Population movements across borders transplant migrants into a new, separate political environment”. Countries draft various agreements in order to allow their citizens to transverse across the boundaries. This reduces tensions between the countries and allows them to maximize their returns by enhancing the level of diversity in the population. Moreover, when one country is more developed than the other but there is a good relationship between the two countries, people are able to work and bring their returns home.

Both countries benefit because one of them enjoys a skilled workforce while the other enjoys the money brought home by its citizens working in the neighboring countries. Although some immigrants tend to forget their home country based on the situation that led them to their host country, majority of them ensures that they maintain their times with the home country. Therefore, effective cross border connections reduce the challenges of these people who might have spread between the two countries.
