Due to the limitation of resources, women resulted into prostitution to meet their basic needs. During this time is when one serial killer killed prostitutes by cutting their throats and removing abdominal organs and the genitalia emerged. He was believed to be well sophisticated with anatomical knowledge and the fact that he got this organ off so perfectly well. Many people believed that the killings were linked to the fact some of his victims were related in some way and the killings were committed within a short period.
The victims had similar cuts, although some of the victims were not mutilated per abdomen. The victims were all killed at night with most of them being discovered early in the morning. The name Jack the Ripper, came up after a letter addressed to the media from one who claimed to be the killer hit the headlines. However, it was believed that the letter was drafted by one of the media people to create more attention to the issue for further investigation and coverage. Several theories came up to figure out who Jack the Ripper was.
The most prominent theory is the conspiracy theory that involved the royal family. It was believed that the killings were high-profile after Prince Albert Victor impregnated a shop girl, Annie Crook. Queen Victoria’s physician brutalized Anne Crook until she forgot everything and left her child with one prostitute Mary Kelly. Once this prostitute got the information, she shared it with fellow prostitutes who are believed to be the victims. It is believed that they were killed to save the loyal family from the humiliation they could have had in case news went out that there was an illegitimate son out there from the Prince.
In another instance, Doctor Thomas Neil Cream was convicted on unrelated madder charges at News Gate prison where he was executed. During the time of execution, he shouted out his last words, which went by “I jack the…..” Not able to complete the sentence as he died off. However, at the time the murders were taking place, Dr. Thomas was in prison hence people believed that he had his look-alike serve the prison sentence as he committed the madders (Buist). Despite a large number of theories, it was impossible to unmask the most notorious criminal in Britain’s history concerning any idea.
It was not until the advent of DNA technology that there was a breakthrough in determining the person behind the killings. It has been figured out that it was Aaron Kosminski who was born in Poland. He lived in Whitechapel most of his life before being put in an asylum (Edwards). By the fact that he ended up in an asylum, it is evident that this person carried out the crimes while not stable mentally. Thus, a mentally challenged individual performed the crimes.
