Also worth noting is the fact that Obama first made his way into the limelight following a keynote speech he delivered in the Denver convention back in 2004. In respect to these examples, it is true that effective speech delivery is a skill that can be mastered through conscious speech self-assessment and deliberate efforts to improve one’s performance. This paper includes valuable concepts gained from the speech development learning process, things that I liked about my informative speech performance, and my plans to improve on before delivering my next major speech.

One of the valuable lessons I learnt from the speech development process is the role of speaker’s emotional appeal to the audience’s involvement. While delivering the speech, the audience takes note of not only the words one speaks but also the emotions that are evoked in the process. These emotions could be in the form of the choice of words used and/or the non-verbal cues from the speakers. For instance, when talking about a sad event, the listeners were much moved whenever I accompanied my words with expressions of sadness in my face.

On the other hand, happy moments were received gladly by the audience whenever the happy emotions were clearly evident in my face as well as the movements I made on the stage. In respect to this development, emotional appeal is critical in ensuring that the audience remains keen and involved throughout the speech delivery process. Another lesson learnt is the role played by thorough research in winning the audience’s trust of the speaker. Nobody desires to listen to a person who seems unsure and disorganized on the facts they are trying to express.
