To make students realize the seriousness of the issue at hand; I used several techniques so as to accomplish my session successfully. First, I ensured that each one of them had a pen and a book to help them scribble down important points on how to change their attitude for the better. This technique worked wonderfully.

As I was walking around the classroom every student was taking notes on important issues. Secondly, I had started my counseling session by getting them to realize their importance to the country and how the country would be a hell broke loose place if they were not ready to let go of their uncouth conduct. Most of them nodded their heads in acceptance. This was a clear indication of a positive impact on their part. Thirdly, I used the technique of allowing them to air their grievances which included their school life frustrations.

It was tough for me at this point but I had to stay calm and maintain focus on the topic of the day. I had to make them realize that life is not a straight line and is full of ups and downs. In the end, I was able to make them get convinced through, the use of different examples of great leaders who made it in life and their famous great quotes as well. Fourthly, I told them to write down what one is looking forward to becoming. To ensure that what every student wished to become was accomplished, each of them had to set goals on his/her grades that he/she expected to achieve in their final exam.

Also, each of them was to write down a plan on how to achieve the set goals. They did it with ease upon realizing that their future life was more important and they ought to take caution as early as possible to ensure that they are accountable for every decision they make in life. Most of them occasioned the staffroom to ask for help from the relevant subject teachers. They demanded more term papers and homework from their respective subject teachers. Bright students assisted other students who were performing poorly in some subjects.

The improvement was eminent to the entire school administration. Their hope for these students was restored. To track my progress, I asked them questions in the course of the session. They thoroughly answered the questions I posed to them and in turn, I tackled their questions well. This ensured their full understanding of the issue at hand and it greatly helped them to adjust for better (Marzano, Robert, Marzano, and Debra, 18). The best part of the achievement was the change in the conduct of the students.

Every member of the administration positively commented on a sudden change in students’ behavior. Their performance improved and the final results were excellent to everyone’s expectations. Every student whose performance improved came to thank me personally after the outcomes of their final examination. This was the greatest meaningful accomplishment in the classroom which I remember nostalgically and will never forget.
