In order to ease an individuals staying in prison, help them to serve time in jail without severe stress and breakdowns and encourage their timely release, government must ensure proper medical support and additional health programs aimed at the improvement of each prisoners mental health since according to Bureau of Justice Statistics, it has been discovered that prisoners with mental problems are prone to be assaulting and abusive more frequently than other convicts (James, 2006). Also, the percentage ratio of prisoners with mental deceases regarding gender characteristics is not equal showing domineering number of cases with mental problems among women over male part.

About 24% of jail inmates suffer from visual hallucinations. Significant and aggravating statistical results indicate poor medical assistance provided in prisons. The data that helped in making given conclusions has been obtained out of surveys and studies made on prisoners behavior. Mental health of convicts has been evaluated according to the interview results and compared with the number of individuals abuses and fits of anger. In this respect, qualitative research has been used with the help of interview and observation as the main forms of data collection methods.

Therefore, it is fair to state that corrections face a great challenge of drastically increasing number of mentally ill convicts. In order to improve the situation, it is recommended to hire more professional medical staff and involve independent experts to recurring examination of prisoners.
