He used his power of trust and respect to persuade the other animals into pursuing his dream. He had all the power and led his friends to take actions that he desired to an action that led to future tragedies and rebellion. In the end, Napoleon’s power corrupted the whole idea of Animalism and he received absolute power which ended up corrupting the whole society. The animal farm institution did not work for some of the animals due to their naivety and ignorance. Animal farm is an illustration of how the unwillingness and inability to question authority usually condemns the working class to suffer to the full extent of the oppression of the ruling class.

For example, when Boxer was presented with a dilemma, he preferred not to puzzle out any implication of the different possible actions but he decided to repeat to himself that ‘Napoleon is always right’. This prevented him from examining his own situation in details leading to his failure (Orwell 120). Boxer’s ignorance allowed Napoleon to grow stronger as Boxer and others grew weaker. Benjamin the donkey also contributed to the rise of Napoleon and the fall of some animals in the animal farm.

Benjamin’s stand was on cynical dismissal of the facts. Even though he was right in saying that ‘Life would go on as it had always gone on- that is, badly’ he does nothing in stopping the ascension of the pigs and also does nothing to raise the awareness of the other animals on whatever was happening. His only action was when he warned Boxer about his impending death at the knackers. ‘Some animals are more equal than others’ in real life. For example, there are cases where the intellectuals have taken control over those who are intellectually inferior.
