To be accepted at the university - Admission/Application Essay Example

Personal ment I graduated from high school in 2005 with very high hopes for a promising career in Psychology. That was the major that I chose for myself as a collegiate student at the local community college. Since I was a person who never had a problem focusing on my goals and achieving them, it was not surprising that I did quite well during the first and second semester of my freshman year. The spring and summer term of 2006 passed without a hitch for me. I had no problems with my classes and passed all of the subjects that I was enrolled in.

That is why I was so disappointed when family problems interfered with my performance during the third semester of the school year. Our family issues and emergencies were mounting and taking its toll on me and my family life. I felt lost and directionless throughout the semester. I lost interest in my studies because I felt that I had to focus on solving the personal problems that were plaguing me. I ultimately came to the decision that I was doing myself disservice by being so disinterested in my classes.

That is why I decided to drop my classes, which, because I dropped too late into the semester, resulted in my failing the classes instead of officially dropping them. Soon after, I returned to my home country. Going home to resolve my issues helped me get my life back on track. I was able to solve the family problems that were interfering with my peace of mind and attended to the emergency situation that caused me to perform so badly during my third semester freshman year. Now i am fully recovered from all the problems that seemed endless and without a solution in the past.

I have left behind all those problems, which I managed to resolve once I was able to concentrate fully on solving it. Knowing that there will be nothing more to hinder my academic performance, I am raring to get back on the academic wagon. I need to get back to my studies and finish my degree so that I can feel better about myself. Even though I had left school I did not lose touch with my classmates and friends. All of them are now very happy and successful in their chosen careers. I want that for myself as well.

Furthermore, my request for probationary admission is something that I am taking very seriously because I now have a 10 month old son who needs me to do my best to improve my future so that I can offer him the life that I know he deserves. That all starts with me focusing on and completing my Pyschology degree. I now have a more serious air of maturity about me which will be beneficial to me as I complete my studies. I have a better understanding of the world and people around me because of my previous life experiences.

Therefore, I am sure that I will perform even better than ever once I return to my classes. It is my great hope that I will be granted a slot in the upcoming term as a probationary student in the Department of Psychology based upon the merits of my case.
