13 October Criminology Yes, the Canadian police should be more proactive. A potentialway to increase the proactivity of the Canadian police is decentralization. This would not only make the Canadian police more preventative, bit would also enhance their efficiency in responding to the matters of varying severity and complexity. Flattening of the police department’s structure causes compression of the structure’s rank and shedding of the bureaucracy’s layers, thus making the time of communication as well as the processes of decision-making more efficient.

The impact of increased proactivity of the Canadian police would be great and would enhance the efficiency of the Canadian police. The biggest threat to the national security of Canada is the activity of terrorist criminals. The Canadian police’s responsibility is to identify, react to, and prevent the terrorist criminal activity. Increased proactivity of the Canadian police would improve the Canadian police’s response to all threats to the Canadian society in general and the terrorist criminal activity in particular.
