Cultural Event Report: Carlotta Festival of New Plays – Fox Play No: Cultural Event Report: Carlotta Festival of New Plays – Fox PlayCultural events are quite impressive and when people attend them, they not enjoy the event but also gain information about a number of valuable facts. Dramas are such creation by artists that inform us about life and how different people live their lives. I am quite fond of dramas and stage shows and I try to get the tickets of new dramas and stage plays whenever I get free time.
A festival of new plays was arranged from May 4 to May 12 with the name Carlotta Festival of New Plays in which, three new dramas were dramatized on the stage by three different writers. The event was organized by Yale School of Drama and a total of 12 presentations were organized for the viewers. According to Yale News (2012), the festival was named after Carlotta Monterey, widow of Eugene O’ Neil. The three dramas were ‘Fox Play’ by Jake Jeppson, ‘The Bachelors’ by Caroline V. McGraw and ‘Petty Harbour’ by Martyna Majok (Yale School of Drama, 2012).
The location of the event was Iseman Theatre at 1156 Chapel Street, New Haven. I went to watch ‘Fox Play’ on 11 May 2012, Friday at 8 p.m. When I reached the location, the theatre was quite populated with people. Young people made most of the audience; however, some middle-aged people along with children can also be noticed. After reaching the theatre, I felt a sense of amusement and freshness because I came with some of my friends and we all started enjoying being there. I also felt that the drama got good reputation because it was the last show of the drama and the number of audience was not less.
I was unable to watch all the three dramas but I watched ‘Fox Play’ that was quite interesting. The protagonists of the play were two characters Franklin and Sean. Both of them suffered loss. Franklin was a widower while Sean’s girlfriend left him and he continued being involved in uploading videos of her girlfriend on YouTube. Both of the characters were made to go to the woods present outside Washington D.C. where they lived and witnessed some magic. Both the characters remain attached to their pasts for which, they are have to pay accordingly.
They face a threat to proceed in their lives but their live in the woods opened new wonders for them. When the audience watched the presented play on the stage, they enjoyed a lot as their intense clapping can be heard at the end of the show. In totality, people liked the play and their liking was evident from the comments that they passed at the end of the play. I, myself feel that if that play comes on screen, it will be loved by the viewers. The stage was well decorated as per the requirement of the play.
I specially loved the woods and the characters lost in the woods with magical happenings. Overall, the event was quite fascinating and I liked the drama. I am very much curious about the story lines and dramatization of other two dramas and I hope to get a chance to view them as well. ReferencesYale News. (2012).
