The very beginning stage of life of Cody is witnessing the hostile nature of his father and this gets stamped in the conscious and subconscious mind of Cody. The Freud’s theory explains that the conscious self when responds to the call of unconscious demands of id then the ego formulates. According to (Priestley) “The Freudian concept of the conscious self, responding to the unconscious demands of the id takes form in the ego”. The novel is strikingly explaining the Cody’s wild and adventurous nature and how he sees is life as a failure in the early years of childhood. Every child expects love and care from their parents and when they does not get what they expect, the ego and consciousness gets hurt
Cody is described in the novel to be thirsty of love and warmth from both his mother and father. Since his father Beth left him in his early years of life, he can in one way develop grudge towards his father. If we dissect the character of Cody according to different factors explained by Freud’s, the explanation will be as below:
The conscious of Cody is the interacting platform in which he acts towards the outside world. The conscious self has knowledge of day to day activities and react to people in different ways. The conscious personality of Cody is wild and adventurous but the situation at home is adverse to his personality. Cody feels that his mother is ignorant and unloving. This can make his personality obscure and irritable. Children in early years of their lives are extremely demanding and if parents cannot meet their demands then the subconscious mind reflect disparities in their behavior.
Here, Cody is of the opinion that his mother favors his sibling Ezra too much and he is disliked by his mother to a great extend. ...Download file to see next pagesRead More

...? 8 February, Dinner time: “Tun tun tun tun tun tun tun tun tun”, it was 9 o’ clock,my eyes lifted from the paper laying in front of my table on the clock as I heard it. “Time for dinner”, my mind said. I dropped the pen, pulled the chair back, and headed off towards the dining table. Soon as I opened the door that led into the dining room, the aroma went right through my nostrils to the brain, and in a fraction of a second, I remembered what it was in the covered dish, the last time my nose had smelt this aroma. Ooh, it was that what felt so soft and tender to the touch, and salty and very mildly sweet to the taste. Mama had made me fish and chips, that had always been my favorite. I poured two large and...

Guess who's coming for dinner

... Section/# An Exploration and Analysis of the Film “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner” One of the aspects of film is itsability to grip current social issues and represent them back to the viewers who are currently partially the cause of some of these social concerns and/or issues. This is very much the case in the 1967 film by Stanley Kramer entitled “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner”. As a function of examining and understanding some of the social constructions of race, prejudice, and an antiquated understanding of tradition and class, the film is able to integrate with the viewer in a way that makes it surprising that the film was made when it was. By pushing the boundaries of acceptability within the society of that time and calling... for the...

A diner who first enters the eatery will be overwhelmed by the warm greetings extended by their waiters. Courtesy and politeness, as in the Japanese culture, is shown to customers by bowing. A Romantic Dinner

...The screen door screeched, its pitch rising until it was fully open. Lisa peered outside, smiling, and feeling slightly chilled by the pleasantly cool air of the early evening. She pulled the rough, scarlet-colored wool shawl around her tighter, and hefted the heavy, wicker basket on one hip. Her cheeks were flushed and her face was flustered and happy. Her heart pounded with excitement, and her thick, dark hair was loosely pulled up and pinned. A few tendrils had rebelliously undone themselves, and blew in the breeze. The scent of burning leaves hung heavy in the air, like the incense of autumn. Outside, the landscape had changed. Where once there were the brash, insistent reds and greens of late summer now were... screen door...

Sunday dinner

...Sunday Dinner According to Sedari 2007, most families all over the world have set aside a special day, either once a week or once a month (n.pag). In our family, this special day is usually on a Sunday where every member of the family is expected to show up for the Sunday dinner. The first thought that usually triggers in my mind every other Sunday morning when I think of the family dinner later in the evening is unity. This is because the main aim of gathering all family members is not generally to share a meal but to bring together all the members as well as getting to know each other’s welfare. Our parents get an opportunity to ask on our well being at school, in the work place for...
