of Lecturer] International Studies ment of Purpose Beginning in my childhood, my interest in international affairs and the manner in which the affairs are conducted has always grown. The key reason of this interest is the fast pace at which the world is transforming due to globalization and technological advances, which have made it rather easier, faster and more efficient for regions that are far apart on the map to interact and discuss issues that affect them jointly (Markwell, P. 162). Because of my interest in international affairs, an education relevant to world affairs would indeed assist me acquire the right knowledge to pursue the many opportunities and possibilities in international affairs.
As a high school graduate that has travelled to quite a number of countries, international affairs have affected my life and that of my entire family in numerous ways. Furthermore, the style in which current international affairs and relations are handled and the nature/importance of the affairs themselves has quite enlightened me in the last three years during which I have been in the U.S. Several international activities, functions, organizations, and world leaders who immensely contribute to the shaping of world events have served as motivation for me, fanning my interest in international studies.
One of the strengths that will assist me in achieving my academic and professional desires and objectives in international studies is the fact that I have travelled to many countries, which acquainted with different world cultures. These countries are Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, France, China, Japan, U.S., and Australia. While I lived in Australia when I was young, I would later study in Japan for a year after graduating from high school. In spite of these journeys around the world, I still felt I needed to study more and become more knowledgeable about international affairs and relations.
Consequent to my stay and studies in the named countries, I currently speak three different languages. This is the other strength, which will be quite useful in my international studies and future professional life. Regardless of the mentioned strengths, it is my love to study international languages, cultures, and countries that drives my ambition to register for international studies at your institution. What is more, after completing my high school, I have been preoccupied with literatures and activities related to international affairs and studies, more so during my free time.
Even so, upon graduating, my aspirations to begin my chosen career path were buoyed by the pace of international affairs and their influences even in the remotest parts of the world. Further, being a self-driven individual, I would like to take advantage of the many opportunities present in the field of international affairs, including internships in different regions. With a GPA of 3.7 without a pre-college course and demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills, I am confident of excelling in my studies if admitted at your institution for the course.
My GPA score of 3.7 is a further indication of my academic potential, and I hope it will accord me considerable credence in your admissions deliberations. Additionally, I have the potential and capacity to excel in critical components of the course such as research and critical thinking. Finally, my keen interest in solving problems will be an added advantage for me since most international affairs are about seeking solutions to problems. These qualities, combined with my experience with foreign countries and cultures, and the demonstrated interest in global affairs makes me an ideal candidate for the course.
