Leading with Love and Fear: A Comparison paper of Leading with Love and Fear: A Comparison paper Contemporary leadership is vastly different than the leadership stylistics of 1950s and 1960s. Leading workplaces in the contemporary business world requires attaining respective approaches. The most prominent approaches that are being applied in the current leadership scenario include fearful leading and love leading approach. This paper aims to compare and contrast the leading with love and leading with fear in a workplace.

Leading workplace with love has many benefits which can be long lasting in terms of loyalty from the employees. If employees are shown concern and treated as a team then they will feel motivated. With increased motivation, employees are more likely to retain in the company. On the other hand, leading workplace with fear has its consequences. For short term projects, leading with fear can be very effective. But the long term consequences will be lowered self-esteem of the employee and lowered loyalty towards the leader (Bryant, 2010).

Gone are the days when leaders used fear and punished employees during 1950s and 1960s. In contemporary business world, an employee is considered as an asset of the company. Thus, it makes it evident that the employee must be taken as a significant part of a team. This will generate positive working habits among the workforce and will leave an effective impression of the leader (Bryant, 2010). Thus, from the above comparison, it can be said that a leader can make use of any approach appropriate for the workforce depending upon the nature of project.

In a nutshell it can also be concluded that a leader must work with employees as a team by leading with love and fear both. References List Bryant, J. (2010). Love Leadership: The New Way to Lead in a Fear-Based World. New York: John Wiley & Sons.
