The three Cases Case 17: Barclay Memorial Hospital Question 1a: The facts of the case The case is about a district hospital known as Barclay Memorial Hospital. The hospital has a 275 beds and a daily census of 249 patients. The length stay of the patients in the hospital is 3.4 days. Question 1b: Identify and diagnose the main problem The main problem is that the CEO of the hospital Dr. Schilling is having problems with Dr. Mavory who wants to take leadership positions and demands for private information. The CEO decided to stop Mavory from causing a rift between the medical staff and administration. The CEO also wrote memoranda to all the board members and finally the CEO ignored Dr. Mavory demands. Question 2: Develop and explain in detail 3 creative alternatives The CEO would have taken disciplinary actions against Dr. Mavory. The COE would ignored her behavior. Finally, the CEO should have replaced Dr. Mavory with someone else. Question 3: Evaluate in detail the three alternatives By taking disciplinary actions against her, she would have stopped her demands. If the CEO ignored her demands, she would have stopped demanding for the files that she wanted. By replacing her, she would have no powers to demand for the files. Question 4a: Chose one alternative solution Taking disciplinary actions against her Question 4b: Why I have chosen the alternative This would have made her to stop completely her demands and serve as a lesson to her and others who would demand private information. Question 5a: How I would implement the decision I would implement the decision by writing a letter to the disciplinary committee and ensuring they have taken an action on her. Question 5b: How I would evaluate the results of the decision I would ensure she learns from the lesson and that she has reformed her behavior. Question 6a: Repeat the process if necessary There is no need of repeating the process Question 6b: How I would determine whether to repeat the process I would repeat the process if the alternative solutions do not solve the problem Case 25: Senior Health Plus (SHP) Question 1a: The facts of the case The case is about Senior Health Plus which is nonprofit making health institution. Question1b: Identify and diagnose the main problem The main problem of the case is the whereby the Vice President of Human Resources is bestowed with the responsibility of coming up with a brand name for the company. Jamie Ricard who is the VP of Human Resources decides to approach The VP of Marketing who is Rita Lansing for an idea. The VP also approaches the CEO of the organization but they do not help her. Question 2: Develop Creative alternatives The VP should have consulted the employees of the organization. The VP would have consulted other VP or other officials who have the position as her for an opinion. Finally, the VP would have consulted people who have come up with brand names for their companies. Question 3: Evaluate the three alternative solutions By consulting the employees she would have gained some insight in to the issue. If should have consulted her counterparts in other health institutions, they would have offered her a solution. Consulting someone who have experienced would have helped Jamie since she would have been guided all the way. Question 4a: Chose one alternative solution I would have advised her to seek help from an experienced person. Question 4b: Why I have chosen the alternative The person would have given her the guidance on how to come up with a brand name for a health institution which would have been accepted by nearly everyone in the organization. Question 5a: How I would implement the decision I would seek help from one of my friend in identifying a resourceful person. Question 5b: How I would evaluate the decision I would evaluate the decision by pilot testing whether the suggestion would work for the organization. Question 6a: Repeat the process if necessary There is no need of repeating the process Question 6b: How I would determine whether to repeat the process all over again I would determine whether to repeat the process if the solutions do not solve the problem. Case 28: Suburban Health Centre Question 1a: List the facts of the case The case is about Suburban Health Center. The case revolves around three people in the health centre. These are supervisor of the health department Helen Lawson, one nurse Dorothy Wilson, and Dr Morgan. Question 1b: Identify and diagnose the main problem The main problem is the Dr. Morgan wants Dorothy, the nurse to be fired by Helen. Morgan claimed that Dorothy was a weak communicator. Helen decide to review the personnel file of Helen, She also decided to meet Lila Moran who was the former supervisor for advise, and she also decided to maintain a file about Wilson. Question 2: Develop creative alternatives She would have reviewed her time sheets; she would have reviewed her written report, Seek help from the head of the department. Question 3: Evaluate in detail the three alternative solutions By reviewing her time sheets, she would have seen how she spends her time, By reviewing her report, she would have made a good decision, by seeking help, she would have known whether the claims were true or false. Question 4: Chose one alternative solution Seeking help from the head of the department Question 4b: Why I have chosen the alternative By seeking help from the head of the department, Helen would have come up with a better conclusion on what to do. Question 5a: How I would implement the decision I would implement the decision after gathering all the relevant information about Wilson. Question 5b: How I would evaluate the decision I would evaluate the decision by valuing the repercussions of the decision. Question 6a: Repeat the process if necessary There is no need of repeating the process.
