The best ‘sculptor’ in this scenario is one who helps the partner reveal his ideal self just as a sculptor draws the ideal form from the block of granite. The effect becomes negative when one partner tries to mold the other into what he believes she should be. This phenomena is the “Pygmalion Effect,” and it usually leads to an ineffective relationship.
4. Our text and most other reading that I have done agree with this essay. A positive relationship is one of acceptance between partners. However, it is impossible to have a relationship without the partners having influence on one another.
2. I was interested in this essay because most of the people I know have a Facebook page. I have always believed that a Facebook page is detrimental to a relationship. I do not feel the collapse between private and public life has been good for society, so since this essay dealt with that subject, I read it.
3. The essay confirmed many of my suspicions. In her essay, Haag confirms that “Facebook intrusion was linked to relationship dissatisfaction” (Haag). The reasons for this effect derived from a multitude of factors. Facebook users were likely to add ex-lovers as friends, they were likely to investigate the lives of their current lovers, and they were likely to be jealous of posts on their lovers’ walls. Facebook makes lovers jealous, even when there is no cause for the jealousy. Additionally, the publication of relationship status on a Facebook page is only linked to an increase in relationship satisfaction for the male in a male-female relationship. All of the jealousy caused by Facebook is a result of the publication of the private life, a phenomena not present in earlier eras.

It is surprising to learn that the FDA and USDA play a role in not just monitoring foods, drugs, and other substances, but also in how those items are marketed. For instance, the USDA’s choice to limit the term “hormone-free” on meat was primarily due to competition between large and small suppliers in the market (Unit Six page 5). Discrimination still takes place in the modern day and age even though people might say that they have evolved from the past and understood what it is like to be on the side that is being discriminated against. Notably, management professionals would agree, HRM system is an integration of various management practices with ‘people’ at its prime focus (Jackson, Schuler & Werner, 2008); and, the common factor between business organisations and educational institutions is ‘people,’ although their goals differ. This could be one main reason for attempting to implement HRM in educational institutions, although it is customized to organisational benefit.

Halachmi’s (2002a) extensive analysis on performance measurement clearly indicates the need for performance measurement in order to achieve the goals; and, it, in turn, establishes targets aligned to organisational goals and expectations; makes evalu...

Normally, money markets demonstrate a more efficient allocation of credit whenever additional liquidity is injected into the system, which would otherwise display some undesirable distortions. Ultimately, the liquidity market is not easily susceptible to ex...

In positivism, there is a belief that the world exists externally and that the objective method of measurement should be used. This implies that only knowledge that is measurable is “valid” and hence the epistemology of positivism is connected with quantitative methods of research. Interpretivism is the qualitative approach through which it is possible to understand the subjective reality. Through interpretivism, it would be possible to make sense of the data collected and achieve the goals of the research.

Any research is a methodical study on a particular subject, which uses facts and figures. The research st...
