Leaders play a great role in influencing the organization towards the achievement of set goals. They have powers to control the organization these include legitimate power, coercive power and reward power where they give rewards through praising the employees. In addition to this, their influence can be categorized into throughout control, output control and even control of inputs. In their effort to implement their influence they must select the appropriate channel/arena of influence. Some of the arenas include a political arena, cultural arena and even psychological arena (Churchill, 1965).

In an organization it’s impossible to control everything, therefore, chaos must be expected therefore managers must expect opposition from other parties in the organization. They must be able to act democratically and be able to control their anger and emotions in order to deal with diverse reactions in the organization. Chaos also brings the attention of the top management about the need to look at the issue at hands (Churchill, 1965).The parties also play a major role in giving the leader a possible solution to the chaos.

It also gives the leader a variety of strategies that he/she can use in coming up with a lasting solution to the problem. A poor decision by the leader can aggravate the problem as both parties would be unsatisfied by the leader’s decision (Churchill, 1965).
