Informative Speech on UFC Sports and entertainment are inter-linked to one another. Sports’ interest is not limited to its being played like traditionally people do. It is also irresistible to watch whether live or through electronic media. Audience watches those sports more keenly which holds an ingredient of thrill in itself. Fighting has emerged as one such sport that is more interestingly watch all over the world and has millions of regular fans. All the information has been taken from sports news releases and the official website of UFC.

Wikipedia also serves as an informative source. All the reference sources are mention under the title “Works Cited”.The aim of this speech is to reveal information regarding UFC and provide others with the useful information that how and when it was established? What makes it unique and what it holds in it for its fans?The objective will be achieved by starting with a short introduction of UFC, then mentioning about its hold all over the world with statistics and figures and telling briefly about the fighter’s categories, rounds and the final decision criteria of the referees and judges.

When we talk about the fights, how can we forget about mentioning Ultimate Championship (UFC)? UFC is the largest Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) promotion company in the world that hosts most of the top-ranked fighters in the sports. It produces the fighting events world-wide. Initially started as an inspiration of Vale Tudo Tournaments in Brazil, the UFC and the sport of MMA have roots in the ancient Olympic combat sport of Pankration. The UFC held its first competition in 1993 in Denver, Colorado.

Showcasing fighters of different disciplines including boxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, wrestling, Muay Thai, karate and other styles, the UFC sought to identify the most effective martial art in a real fight. An ongoing expansion of UFC through Canada, Australia, Europe, Middle East, Asia and the exploration of new markets within the USA has lead it to gain popularity along with greater main stream media coverage. UFC knows that it has millions of viewers and to aid them it has started the pay-per-view access for them on television in U.S., Brazil, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and Italy.

Going towards media covering in term of sports channels, its programming can also be viewed on Spike, Versus and Fox-Network in U.S., and on ESPN in UK and Ireland. Besides that UFC has also provided its events available be watched over 150 countries in 22 different languages world wide. It has provided its fans with the mobile site to be visited and get updated about the places where to watch sports and finding the places to see pay-per-view shows. It has several weight divisions and enforces the Unified Rules of MMA.

Originally, the current rules of UFC are developed by New Jersey Athletic Control Board. These rules have become mandatory and standard set of rules to be followed for all those who adopted them all across the country. UFC conducts matched that vary in length depending upon its nature of either being played for the Championship Title or as the fight card’s main event match-up. However, in all the matches no round can be longer than five minutes. The rules have been a bit modified as from November 5, 2011, the non-championship matches will also be comprised of maximum five rounds.

While, small sessions of trial of strength generally known as bouts will be no longer than of three maximum rounds. There will be only one minute rest between the rounds. Currently the weight divisions being used by UFC are categorized into seven main categories. These categories include all the weight classes starting from the lowest weight class as Bantamweight, then other weight classes such as Featherweight, Lightweight, Welterweight, Middleweight, Light heavyweight, and then the top most weight category as Heavyweight.

The bouts are mainly conducted in an octagon cage of specified material, height and weight and have two gates present in the opposite position. All competitors have to fight in approved shorts without any shoes as long pants are also not allowed within a fight. There is a prescribed format for the conduct to be maintained by all the fighters, referees and judges within the events and matches. Foul playing is not allowed and the fighter can be charged or even disqualified if found involved in any type of foul play.
