Steps to Discover New Knowledge about Plants The study of plants, referred to as plant biology or plantscience, is one of the most important fields of biology since it helps to discover different aspects about the plantation present on the planet. It is due to the intriguing and curious nature of the human race that revolutionary discoveries have been made about the structure of plants, their behaviors, reactions to different environmental changes etc. Scientists conclude new findings on the basis of observations, inquiries, gathering information etc.

New discoveries and verification of new concepts are also done on the basis of experiments that are designed and performed with careful examination. According to Scientific Inquiry, the approach of a controlled experiment is usually utilized (where it is known to constitute the comparison of an experimental sample with a control sample). The first step in conducting the experiment involves the identification of the dependent, independent variables and constants that might be relevant for the experiment.

Then, a hypothesis is formulated that defines the relationship between the variables. The validity or the invalidity of the hypothesis will bear the results of the experiment. Different methods and tests are designed that analyze the behavior of the dependent variable in the presence of the independent variable. Observations are gathered from the different tests and accumulated as ‘data’. The quantitative data is analyzed with respect to different techniques and models. The results prove the hypothesis or prove its invalidity and thereby providing the basis for new discoveries and findings.
