Some useful graphs and tables show how women have consistently earned less than men. A sobering fact is that when Americans were asked in the NORC 1996 survey whether they thought the future of girls were likely to have a happy family life: “Only 20% thought their chances will be better while 36% thought that they will be worse.” This suggests that American society has a long way to go in achieving gender equality.
