In developing countries, health policies are often neglected due to the fact that these countries strive for their economic survival resulting further to compromised health and nutrition for the people (Lambo, 1993, p. 247).
Health policies are very important considerations of a country. However, it is a reality that developing countries are much focusing their attention on how to ensure their survival on a day to day basis. With this situation, the attention that supposed to be given to other basic necessities in life has been given to important strategic moves for economic survival and growth of the country. The result is that the other basic necessities in life are usually neglected.
This reality brings forward the fact that developing countries have difficulty ensuring the health of their people. The result is that many children suffer a lot on health and nutrition. Not everyone has the opportunity to consume the right nutrition every meal required for an individual. This is a very interesting subject to think about. It is important to consider this knowing the fact that a healthy future of the nation must start from its younger generation. It is noted that child health and nutrition are considered determinants of adult productivities and earnings making them as intergenerational socioeconomic mobility (Wolfe and Behrman, 1982, p. 163).
The issue on undernutrition among children in developing countries has long been discussed in the public and has been major issue discussed in the World Health Organization. In fact, the World Health Organization created an international standard for the determination of malnutrition among children in the world.
