FYC is an ergonomic furniture manufacturing company that was established in 1947 and has earned great credibility in its huge range of residential and commercial furniture. While the company has greatly expanded its line of products, it has unfortunately remained a small time family boutique. The contemporary environment of technology and rapid globalization has opened a great opportunity to expand FYC across the globe. FYC needs to meet the challenges of the time and introduce state-of-the-art technology within its business processes to improve and improvise its performance to maintain a competitive advantage.
The current functioning of the firm delays access to vital information for efficient decision-making vis-à-vis various managerial decision-making. There is a lack of effective communication amongst the various branches and departments which increases the overhead costs considerably and delays in the various production processes like new designs for furniture, cutting, etc. that can be expedited through new technology. The diverse units of FYC need to be linked through an effective system that would facilitate sharing of information within the departments and within the branches.

Effective information system development is essential so as to manipulate strategic business information for improving the overall business prospects.
