Answer to Question 3- Knox and Marston thinks that the evolution of geography considerably to the prehistoric system .The agricultural development and human development is well connected to ancient world .They believe that the ancient civilization has helped greatly in establishing a foundation to the modern world. Human geography is the study of the many cultural aspects found throughout the world and how they relate to the spaces and places where they originate and then travel as people continually move across various areas (Briney).It is mainly a study of relationships between places in global and local scales. Geography has a rich tradition as a study Human being from earlier times had to interpret and interact with different spatial element. Knox and Marston studied human geography form a contemporary aspect. They have simplified the human geography in to three tiers; the core, the periphery and semi - periphery. The core are those countries which are the super powers of the world. They have immense wealth and power. The peripheral countries are those who are under developed and achieve no benefits from rich countries .Finally the semi – periphery countries are those which are industrializing and capitalizing countries. They resemble the characteristics of both core and peripheral regions. They play major role in enhancing the economic, social and political growth of core and peripheral regions. Even their geographical positioning comes between core and peripheral areas. Semi peripheral nations have dominance over peripheral ones and further technological developments can lead to their chances of being turned into core nation. Traditional method categorizes the globe into developed and developing nations. Here no much importance is given to the middle category of nations which is on the verge of development. These nations are on their way to position themselves as wealthy nations. They have well advanced economies but are yet to show their signs of development. Where as poor nations is far behind from rich nation and super powers, they require lot of time to even cross the poverty line. Traditional method only give importance to rich and poor, they are completely ignoring the rapidly boosting economies like India, china etc. Middle class nations with little more development in different areas like technological and politics can emerge as a well developed nation. Knox and mars ton gives complete importance to the semi peripheral category. They constitute as a different sector of the global economy. They help both developed and developing countries in the growth. These regions paves way to technological innovation and industrial development and this stimulates the growth of the economy of the whole world. They have a vital role to play in the elevation of world economy. Since these countries want to promote themselves they make best use of their manpower and resources. These countries have more land mass and also have more human resources in order to create more products and services. Examples of such countries are China, India Iran etc. Semi peripheral countries act as mediator for the exchange of goods and services in trading. The importance of this group appeared when these countries showed much development from the peripheral countries but remained inferior to core countries. This tier exists in needs to drawn a line between core and peripheral countries. These regions extend thought the Asian sub continent and Middle East. So Knox and Mars ton segregate into three tiers in order to remove the myth that only two categories exist that is the rich and poor. They believe that world has enough resources to feed the population if it utilized in the right manner. They suggest that unlimited flow of energy and matter in the universe can greatly promote the growth of human. The increase in population induces greater consumption of resources which in turn creates scarcity leading to high price. High price makes the business men to invent alternative ways to produce commodities and products with cheaper price. This in turn makes avail products and services to larger group. Where as Neo-Malthusianism are very pessimistic, they believe on cutting down the population growth in order to save natural resources. They suggest birth controlling by abortion and other means to restrict the population expansion. It is seen that they foresee a depletion of natural resources and are quite negative about the future. They declare that the uncontrollable reproductive nature of man in under developed countries can trigger destruction to the global economy. Neo-Malthusianism state that only by controlling the population through education and other measures can there be a regular supply of food and other amenities for human. So it can be very well suggested that Knox and Mars ton are cornucopias as they looks upon providing people with ample amenities and resources by channeling it rightly, UN millennium summit emphasizes on the fact that poverty should be eradicated by creating a proper flow of resources throughout the economy. It suggests for education to make people more aware about the consequences of over population. Advanced bio-technology and pest resistant techniques are to be introduced to increase productivity of farm land to eradicate the hunger quotient of underdeveloped countries. With their positive reference to UN summit it can be understood that Knox and mars ton look forward to the well being of the human population in future. They are in support of the facts put down by the UN Millennium Summit. The summit instead of concentrating on birth control thinks of providing better life for the future generation and the existing one. Energy services are essential for the expansion of the economy and to meet the basic needs of the human. If effort is made to provide electricity and cooking gas to people of developing and poor countries it can be a noteworthy movement. Cornucopias always believe that substitutes are available no matter what situation arises. Scarcity can never be a problem as nature has various recourses yet to be discovered or invented. The population has grown to a great extend but major advancement has also seen in the economy. Every field of human activity has seen a dramatic change throughout these years. Technology and Medical field has taken a major shift which improved the life of human to an enormous level. A major breakthrough was the invention of internet which facilitated in creating a global network. Even the under developed countries have computer services in most households. Introduction of cell phone made life even easier. Telecommunication services have become so affordable that even laymen can communicate with dear ones with ease. Before decades people had less exposure to foreign nations and their culture, cuisine and living style. But since globalization people life changed drastically .Even there is more of charity services being offered to poor and less developed countries due to reliable communication means and transportation facilities. The food habits of people have also improved as different cuisines are explored by people around the world. Big branded food chains and restaurants are opened recently through out the globe which is sure a positive signs as they offer quality food products to developing countries. Fashion and living style of people are changing as more international products and accessories being introduced in developing countries. Entertainment world has had a big leap with more animated and three dimensional movies being produced. Since the discovery of satellite channels people have an array of programs to watch and enjoy in the comfort of their living room. Even poor people in every corner of the world enjoy the pleasure of watching programs on televisions of various models. People are constantly developing new techniques and methods which make the life of individuals easier and economical. The quality of life of people has genuinely improved. The standard of education has moved up as people have become more knowledge and career conscious. Let us take the example of China, which is the most populated country in the world at the same time also is the most boosting economy in the world. They have captured the market of major products due to the durability and reasonable value of the product. Necessity is definitely the mother of inventions. Before the Airline industry was not as competitive as it is now, at present people are catered with wide range of selection. Even the numbers of people owning private jets and airplanes have increased. Automobiles and other services are more affordable to people and they definitely enjoy the privilege of owning them. More people own expensive brands of luxury cars and clothing, and the number of rich has also gone up. Entertainers are also earning well and attaining more exposure to the world with the emergence of internet and satellite channels.
