It may take time, but as long as there is a will, ways will be available. In the past, where a basic degree was considered a rarity, it has now basically become a necessity, and it is to this degree that we shall find our students reaching standards greater than this. Even as we speak, the world is demanding more, and we find the need to meet these increasingly difficult demands. As a school set up for the people of Walnut City, we will support our community, its parents and its students to their goal to excellence in our society.

At Apache High School, our students shall graduate and be imbibed with wide knowledge and fine character. (142 words)a) School Profile (Done!)Apache High School is located in Walnut City, in Arizona less than one mile from the international border with Mexico. It is the sole public high school within Walnut City. The current campus, which opened over 25 years ago, is comprised of several buildings spread out on a campus that mimics that of a junior-college setting. The original plans were for the high school to house up to 1, 000 students.

Over the years a few classrooms have been added, but the campus is now beyond capacity and several teachers must rove from classroom to classroom while these are unoccupied by other teachers. In addition, every available space is used as a classroom; this includes the auditorium pods, library rooms, and computer labs. The student body demographics for the 2007-2008 school year were as follows:Total enrollment: 1,757 as of October 1, 2007.Females: 836Males: 894Hispanic: 1,709 (97%)Limited English Proficient: 543 (31%)Free and reduced lunch: 668 (38%)Students with disabilities: 170 (10 percent)The student mobility rate is increasing each year at AHS.

This is primarily due to the high numbers reported for unemployment and low income households. AHS anticipates a large increase in enrollment over the next five years, especially students classified as Limited English Proficient, also referred to as English Language Learners. A housing development of more than 100 units is currently under construction right across the street from AHS and will be opened in time for the new school term. With its cheaper housing, excellent climate, and a major freeway connecting the city to larger metropolitan areas, it is anticipated that the school district will be seeing major increases each year for the foreseeable future.

Since the 2005-2006 school year, seniors attending AHS not only must obtain 22 credits, and complete a Senior Exhibition Project, but they must also pass all three portions of the Arizona Instrument of Measuring Standards (AIMS) in order to graduate from high school. That first year there were approximately 28 students, out of a total of 370 seniors, which did not graduate because they did not meet or exceed the standards of at least one of the portions of the AIMS test. For the past three years, the school administrative teams along with the faculty and parents have been struggling to meet benchmarks established by state in order to make Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP).b) Problem identification (This part 350-word)Due to the influx of more students, Apache High School has seen space restrictions, and with it, our teaching staffs' capabilities have not been capitalized to their maximum potential.

This includes the possible lack of sufficient teaching facilities, and limited time to conduct lessons in a require setting, e.g. the computer rooms. This is further aggravated by the time spent on needless movement made by the teachers and/or students when conducting or attending another lesson. AHS is also the sole public high school in Walnut city, which meant a greater burden is being placed on the school staff, and there might be a need for an outlet for the teachers and the students to find stress relief.

Since AHS is an English-based school, it would require its students to decently understand the English language in order to obtain credits on English-related subjects. Focus on language learning would be an issue to look out for, and this is not limited only to English. With AHS's lower fees, e.g. for meals, it has been attracting the attention of the population's large percentage of lower income families, and more intakes can be expected. While this boosts well for AHS's demand for education, with its already limited teaching facilities, the increment of new students would further incapacitate the restricted resources AHS Staff have.

Will the newly developed housing of 100 units be sufficient for students who require housing More information may be required on land and space allocation within the school. There is a need to research on the matter of failures on the AIMS test, to find out what are the exact reasons for their failures, and how they can be resolved. While it is desirable to have a pool of aid available to the school, too many cooks may spoil the broth, plus, parents and teachers are likely to have different perspectives on matters.

All students, staff and parents who are aiding in resolving the problems need to keep an open mind about the matters, consider all reasons and options, and not close their minds and believe in only one, sole solution. (350 words)c) Mission, vision, and beliefs (This part 250-word) MissionTo provide learning opportunities to high school students, allowing them to reach their mark in their studies and find fulfillment in life.We will bring out the talents in our students, developing them in their fields of strength, while seeking out their weaknesses and changing them into additional strengths.
