This has helped them to bring together people with vast experience, cultural diversity, education, and professional skills. However, when issues of racism arise in the workplace, I believe it is destructive in nature. It restricts the individuals and will have a direct impact on their productivity. It destroys community cohesion and creates divisions in the workplace. I believe that it is the opposite of the democratic principle of equality. Additionally, this kind of destructive behavior results in the domination of a particular group or individual.

As a result, the practices of that group or the individual are seen as the standard to which other cultural practices should conform. I feel that this is a wrong practice and it frequently and systematically advantages some ethnic and cultural groups and disadvantages others who do not belong to these groups. I have seen this happen to one of my colleagues who belongs to a Negro community. She was talented and was perhaps a much better performer when compared to many others in my organization.

Every time she applied for her promotion, her application was rejected based on some reason. Besides, in many instances, she was directly abused by her seniors, which made her less productive and ultimately quit the organization. It is important for organizations to take adequate steps to prevent racism and any discrimination between individuals. I believe that to create a racism-free worksite, an employer should have a good relationship with the staff of color or belong to other cultures. Additionally, it is also important to take serious action against such behavior.

The employer should assure them that support around racism-related incidents will be taken seriously. It should be included in the company rules and regulations that anyone who is involved in such acts will be punished and may even be terminated from work. I believe that multiculturalism is the present trend in organizations all over the world. Multiculturalism is all about respecting racial, ethnic, and cultural differences among people. It is also about emphasizing the right of each individual to live and work with dignity and also to have opportunities to participate fully.

The main purpose of multiculturalism is to encourage understanding, acceptance, mutual respect, and inclusion, in order to make society more equitable for all people. Multiculturalism emphasizes bringing people together through the development of inclusive organizations. Multiculturalism involves the abolition of racism, which attempts to address the effects of historic, organizational, systemic, and attitudinal racism. Racism is recognized as a major concern in our society and within organizations today and hence it is important to tackle this problem.

I believe it is only possible to promote multiculturalism through an integrated effort by the employers and the employees.
