FAITH & HOPE CONCLUDING LIFE: ABANDONMENT OF HOPE NONQUANTIFIABLE FAITH & HOPE AGAINST EUTHANASIA SHIRLEY BONGBONG FOR ACADEMIA-RESEARCH Candle, faith and fate are the three things I would want to linger on when something goes wrong in my life. A lighted candle within a dark space symbolizes a flicker of hope amidst life turmoil's and unbearable headache. Faith is an old fashioned hand me down belief and a moment of supernatural power that serves to strengthen body and soul to nourish hope beyond explanation of detail and science. Fate is a complementary feature of faith, a by product of past acts, concluding history of one's worldly breath and values of life at a given time. I believe that everything happens for a reason. Events are an art of life to make us pamper life more or pause in the hustles of our daily buzz for a moment of self reconciliation to spend in silence and discern what God has in store for ourselves to wherever our present leads us even to a vaguely discerned future. Dear readers, I am leading you to understand the artworks of The Almighty: keeping you in His wings of love in a story of sacrifice that describes beneath the beauty of words as to how pain and illness could lead one to walk in His path and how others could closely follow and find the means to hold hope and faith through pain and sacrifice in this physical world. There is always something in store for us. When a door closes, another one opens, and it could be physical or spiritual, but it serves to enlighten us and the people within our hemisphere. The terminally ill person might take an account of their different travel logs, whether they are conscious or unconscious in state, they are dealing on their own perspectives and their own travails in a different sense in their present world. It is like a transformation from this physical world to a world that is remarkably beyond utterance and grasp. It is where the only ones who can understand are the ones who have been there and the ones who are in transit to that aspect. A meeting of faith and a meeting of the transformed belief and outlook in life no mathematical equation can ever quantify the output of that fraction. I believe that the greatest journey that I have in life is the travel from my heart to my mind. Seeing the location of both is only a near distance proximity but the evolvement of pure understanding and integral acceptance of self among a lot of things could put a large American court to process conformity to both perception and instincts. And when you reach that thing, it is a point of no return for here you will gather the wisdom of seeing what others fail to see and understand. Wisdom is a good consultation of a wise opinion coming from pure discernment through silence and fellowship with God from vast experience usually embedded in the art of pain and sacrifice. It is a total confirmation of the existence of The Almighty God and his close association with our mental and heartfelt prayers in life. And so below we see a list of reasons for marching against euthanasia. I say reasons because it is more personal as life, factors are considered to be more technical in their sense and pronouncements. A. Disregard of the Divine Intervention in our Lives This is what I have been relaying to you from my close to monologue expression above. It is a great sin to lose hope and deny the existence of our God and Creator. Every day we see a miracle. The very fact that we are standing here is a miracle in itself for I always believe that today is God's gift and tomorrow is God's mercy. This is the very thought that motivates me to strive to work to sustain life in a heap of cost of living expenses. Only God can take back what He has given. God gives, God takes! It is by His Divine Mercy that we have what we enjoy now and it is in our great awe and heartfelt thanks that we do follow His lead of good deeds. Miracles still happen. And it is only by God's great mercy that we can have these life extensions we need and deserve even though confronted with lots of problems it is still a blessing per se. I am bringing you to understand the silence of the terminally ill person and those who are in the state of coma. Base from actual observations, every human being has its own discontentment, disappointments and discomforts that kept them endlessly quacking. So it is no surprise that a person experiencing intense pain would shed tears of agony and cry to end life. Whether he means it at that time, it is only brought about by the validity of the health and financial burden he is carrying. And because it is human nature that we do such act, it is also human nature to interpret the silence of the one in coma as a great sacrifice with the assumption of great pain to live as life sustaining apparatus have sustained him. But what we ought to understand is that even if they are experiencing extreme pain, never did they end life on their own terms which are contrasting to the verbal request and eye messages they are asking and sending to their love ones. If they want to end their life, they can very well do so and commit suicide. How come they still have to ask relatives and medical doctors to become part of the murder It is because they themselves do not want to die. They in part will blame others for the object of euthanasia in which they had leaded them to instill in their position. Nobody wants to kill themselves for a good reason of pain because in themselves they are afraid of the Truth of facing mortal sin consequences. Then why of all things shall we place the consequence in our hands then Why are we taking the sole responsibility and conscience on the demeaning act of killing The basic act of non acceptance of God's mercy is a sin in itself. By doing euthanasia we are incurring both and pay the deed in our unconceivable tomorrows. Indeed it is making the one who decides a direct accessory to crime. Never ever then beat responsibility and commit the crime, it is but common sense and absolutely no use of emotions and pity. God opens gates and doors in His time, always in His time. And to whatever reason we can't fathom His ways, remember in our hearts that it is always for our own good. By withdrawing life sustaining apparatus we are already abandoning hope and playing God. A very good example is the life of charismatic healer Dr. Jaime Irrizare, Cebu, Philippines. He is a medical doctor who had been diagnosed years ago with an illness that will take the functions of his body and legs to immobility, commonly termed as invalid and was under a lot of pain and stress. He went to different hospitals and specialists doctors and got the same medical and scientific results. At a moment of his life, he paused and prayed for his cure. And after years of containing pain and making sacrifices in an effort to live and know God, he got healed and is now walking as a speaker to a lot of charismatic seminars around the world and was an instrument of God healing other people who came to the charismatic mass and group seminars. The word is to contain what our present predicament has brought us and pray. Reflections and soul searching and those quiet moments we spend talking to God and discerning His will always leads us to one big glory for Him and for the people He wishes you to glorify Him more. B. Prediction of the life expectancy of a patient Medical graphs and x-rays or humor me xerox copies of our interior structures are sometimes frustrating. Somehow doctors tend to predict the life of the patient through test results. Emotional and psychological pressures in terms of disappointments could be overpowering for some group or people that will lead them to discuss euthanasia as a one source of way out or alternative. How one defines terminal ailment is personal. And so we are declaring the end of a certain life of person based on personal opinion alone. Science never came to term with the supernatural and so it is always a hopeless situation if the test results got to be poor in composition. If one got to study medical records, other patients with declared terminally ill results lived for a couple of years more than expected. With the threat to end life before it is expected to subside in its existence, we are putting suicide in the list of our healthcare priorities that is a direct conflict to the aim of medicine which is to prolong life and care for life. This is already a form of a bias rejection of the importance and value of life. C. Oversight in terms of regulations and medical practice If the entireties of our lives are placed in the hands of these medical doctors, we are always subject to the oversight in terms of regulations and medical practice of these practitioners. Then what we call as mercy killing does not make any sense at all. We are conjuring malpractice and are deliberately supporting it by contention. Some illness cannot be defined at the moment and we don't have to pressure science to gain reason for its emergence. D. Grave danger to people and societal acceptance Euthanasia can prove to be a great threat to homes and society. If everybody accepts the cause of euthanasia then it will eventually lead to practicality and practicing euthanasia at their very own homes without the consent of a lot of reasons for considerations. Somehow we don't want getting killed because we are in a lot of pain getting broken bones and high fevers do we And if at some event we only have a child who is not matured enough to make a decision but decides giving euthanasia because he sees us under a lot of stress and pain due to less bowel movement or amoeba, it doesn't give us much leverage to say no when we are already drinking what he thinks is a good form of instigating euthanasia. The only advice I can give is please don't give trouble a good head start. E. Euthanasia as part of healthcare could lead to abuse If in its acceptance the process of giving euthanasia becomes part of healthcare then there will be a mass murder due to possible abuse by literal interpretation of documentation to mean to end life. At this time we will be mass producing body bags. F. Cost and benefits If we look into the cost of sustaining life and the financial benefits of ending it then it will be easier to choose the option of euthanasia. But if they are talking about us being the comatose or the terminally ill person, it will be a great heartache to know that love comes to the end of healthcare. We must fight for the right to decide for ourselves to determine the termination of our lives and not by law or some medical practice healthcare and governmental instituted sanctions. Funding resources will always be available and so is hope but not life. We simply don't have the right to end life. We just don't know yet what tomorrow brings. G. Defining a group unworthy of living is inhuman Once a group is defined unworthy to live by law or by science then we can't stop them from extending the definition to other groups like the invalid and the imperfect retard or senile or the aged. The law fulfills itself by the time the enforcer becomes one of the worthy cause for euthanasia. Accidents happen and we can never predict nor stop it from happening. And by mathematical computation of a million of possibilities we do get the favor of being a member of the outcast then we get the laugh of the times to fulfill what we have voted in the past to our very selves. What I am trying to raise is what if we are the ones we are voting at present to be a worthy cause for euthanasia How shall we feel then if by amazing turn of events we find ourselves in the shoes of whom we condemn H. Reduce the means to improve life and find cure The practice of euthanasia will bombard science to finding the easier way out of any hopelessness. It will keep science on bay with finding the right cure to any symptomatic illnesses and cut private and government budgets to improve terminal care. It is in this instance that law and science will weed out the weak from the strong. Somehow, what we need to understand that in life we are always paired with a complement. We are not perfect in our own ways and features that God has perfectly team us up with complements to keep the world a happier place to live. Imagine if the ones living are all the perfect ones then nobody will be kind enough to serve meals and do the laundry, it will always be a classic taste of luxurious lifestyle and high technology then. Expect a crash of the world by the people who lives in it literally speaking and conservatively. No one can live super egoistic people who will A-level themselves. Euthanasia destroys lives and destroys not only the ill fated ones but also the perfectly intelligent good mannered gentlemen of the law and medicine. Let us put a stop to creating a world full of reasons that belong to the trash. We put an end to self destruction now. Some of my write ups above could be a great sense of humor but it has a lot to take you to understand over a million no why euthanasia shall not be part of the medical aim, shall not be a part of the law and more shall not be part of healthcare. We endanger our very selves by our very will to fight for it. With the task that this paper will bring forth light to faith and hope, I for myself say no to euthanasia. References: Pastor David F.
