My Group - The Marksman Club In the hustle and bustle of our mundane routine lives if we are involved as a member with a group, then we are sure to lead our lives in a meaningful way. This is how I feel after becoming a part of the Marksman club situated in Saarbrucken Germany. I completely enjoy myself in an environment that soothes my mind and body. Interaction is important for any normal human being and if that interaction is with likeminded individuals who share our occupations, beliefs or interests then its great.

The joy of belonging to the Marksman club has accelerated for me because getting membership of this group is not easy. All the membership applications are strictly scrutinized and controlled through segregation. Hence to be offered a membership of such an esteemed group is a matter of pride for me. The Marksman club is considered in-group in Germany.Lots of people want to join this club but a very small percent of the applicants get selected. Those who are denied permission naturally get disheartened and blame my club of basing its decisions, on some kind of discrimination.

Though I do not completely agree with it, I sometimes wonder that why is it that my group is comprised only of Caucasians. There are no Asian or African members in my group. As women and children are not allowed to join our group, feminists feel that we function in the machismo way.The rituals that decide our membership are very tough. For example in one ritual the applicant has to sit inside a barrel filled with ice water for five minutes. After this grueling situation, he is expected to climb and within two minutes put the pistol together.

In the other one, the applicant is made to walk over hot coals. To earn the right of passage one has to be successful in these rituals. Some rituals are even looked upon as part of the degradation ceremony. The screening or selection process that my club follows is based upon values. The president of my club believes that these values cover the code of ethics of the group. My club is a small group comprising of twelve members of my state. All the members know each other well and socialize with each other even outside the club.

Many of the members have been my friends since years that mean we knew each other before we joined this club. As a group we follow alienation and do not participate in matches with other groups. So many people attached to other groups think that we are a sect. Members of my group feel that we follow the functional perspective of leading life. They cannot imagine their lives without being an active member of this group and feel that their lives will be incomplete without it. They also feel that their lives would have been bereft of any aim, enthusiasm and responsibility in the absence of such an excellent group.

The club functions in a very professional and balanced way. We do not allow any criminal to become a part of our group. It is against the code of ethics of our club to indulge in unwanted behaviors like fighting, consumption of drugs, irregularity or delay in payment of fee, below standard marksmanship etc. The marksman club does not tolerate any form of deviance. I am proud to say that all the members are very obedient and well behaved. They possess all the desired social skills to keep a very congenial and peaceful environment.

If there is any dispute, which is very rare then the result is decided after a vote system. As it is understandable the issue, which earns the total of 51 per cent or more vote, is observed as the opinion of the majority. All the members are expected to abide by the decision taken this way even if they do not exactly agree with it. My group - The Marksman Club is a very good meeting point for getting guidance, practicing, learning and discussing the various shooting disciplines. The purpose of our group is to promote our hobby that is sports, and maintain an environment full of relaxation and socialization.
